Hi,
I'm currently outside Canada, and being sponsored by my wife to get a
PR status. On the other hand I've got an admission for a post-doc position
in Canada! Now, here's my question; Is it possible to get a research or student visa
while you've already applied for immigration, and are being sponsored?
Thank you in advance,
BKM

You can always try. Visit your nearest Canadian Consulate.

Thanks for the answer, but It's not easy to just "give it a try...".
It's about 5 years that we are waiting for this , and I'm worried that
my visa application would interfere with my PR status in future.
I just don't know the regulations, What do you think? would applying
for student or research visa endanger progression of my immigration file?
Merci,

Hi:

The reason another reader told you to "give it a try" is because many of the decisions made for TRV, or Student Visas are subjective to an officer that can approve you or turn you down, quite quickly. It is my knowledge that YES you can apply to this VISA, you can put together a very argumentative case for them to give to you, However be advised, that if they give it to you, and you come to Canada and you DO get the Permanent Residence, you HAVE to return to your country and get processed and Return to Canada.
A lot of ppl will tell you that the chances for the Student Visa will be slim but it all depends of the case you build.
