Hi Everyone,

I am planning to visit the US and Canada with my wife and son this summer. Our itinerary is given below:
a) 22nd June: Arrive in NY from Bangladesh
b) Stay in NY for 10 days
c) 2nd July: Fly to Toronto from NY
d) Stay in Toronto for 12 days
e) 13th July: Fly back to NY from Toronto for a night
f) 14th July: Catch the return flight to Bangladesh

We already have bought confirmed return tickets to NY from Bangladesh (as well as US Visa). Now applying for the Canadian TRV. I have the necessary documents and fulfill the requirements for the TRV. However, I do have a few questions:

1. Are we required to submit the Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union form as we are already married?

2. Can a will drawn up by my parents serve as evidence of assets? We do have enough evidence of joint accounts (both at home and abroad), investment in fixed deposits and government bonds, which will be more than enough to cover a 10 day trip. However, we do not yet own any property.

3. Is it necessary to provide a flight itinerary with our visa application? I will definitely be providing the issued tickets of Bangladesh to NY return flight as evidence that we will be returning from our North America trip.

Thanks.

1. Answer the questionnaire to see if it is required for you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp

2. Property is not necessary, if you feel if your joint accounts are substantial. For a 10 day trip, you have to show at the very, very least CA$6000. IMO it's not necessary to draw up the will just for this purpose if you don't have it already.

3. No, it is not. It is never recommended to buy flight tickets before a visa is issued. So don't buy your flights to Canada yet, although you can include a mock booking if you wish (but also not required). But since you already have a US visa, you can include your flight between Bangladesh and the US (and your US visa) in your Canadian TRV application.

(Even if you buy NY-Toronto flights after your TRV is approved, you can still find cheap flights on Westjet and Porter, recommend those two airlines.)

Hi bellaluna

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the 3rd point, I was referring to a flight itinerary between NY and Toronto for submission. I wouldn't buy it yet until I get the visa, but I wanted to provide it to show my intended travel and return times. While filling out the questionnaire I came across the below popup regarding having a return ticket out of Canada. Does it have to be a valid and paid ticket because then it would contradict what you said.

I am providing main flight ticket between NY and Bangladesh as my intention to return back to my home country after my North America trip.

It's a suggestion/guideline, but not a requirement, as implied by the word "examples" in your screenshot. Submitting the intended travel/return is enough as you intend. If it were really required, the flight tickets would have their own upload slot. Hope that clears it up.
