As a visa-exempt person, there isn't any need for you to apply for an extension.

You'll be fine to go visit your friend and re-enter as a tourist. Carry proof of your PR app and proof of funds. Lots of people come to Canada as visitors part way through the process.

Don't worry :)
Thank you :)

Hi, oh101
can you tell me what happen to your friend now? does her situation turn around? she has to wait another 2 year? i have a similar situation here. I was working after my post graduate work permit expired since my immigration consultant told me i have implied status by submitting extension of OWP and pr application under common law sponsorship. The problem is that my original application was returned because of lack my bf signature on IMM5476 after my work visa expired. I believed i could work under implied status, but i just found out i am out of status last week from cic call center. I called them to ask for OWP under pilot program. they told me i am not eligible cause i do not have valid status. they do not consider incomplete application exist.

I mailed twice additional documents including my pay stubs. I am afraid immigration officer will consider my illegal work. but i really did not know that i would not benefit from implied status if application is returned. :'(

please let me know what is your friend situation now? thanks a lot !

Any idea which episode # that was?
I know it's been a while, but I found it:

Border Security - Canada's Front Line
Season 2 Episode 18

It's also available on Netflix USA region.

The officer clearly states that "This work permit was not renewable, you were okay to remain in Canada because you applied to extend your stay however you have to stop working (that day)".
