They never did find the FBI certificate - though they had record of receipt of the document. We applied for a second one and had it delivered to my address. It came earlier than expected and I scanned and emailed a copy to Pretoria and my husband. My husband sent a copy with his passport to the office - as suggested back in January. He recieved an email on Monday notifying him that his visa had been issued and passport was ready for pick-up. He texted me at 2am yesterday morning saying he had his passport in hand. His medicals expired tomorrow! Today is our anniversary. What a crazy ride.

We booked his flight - he wanted a few weeks to visit family around the country and say his goodbyes. He's very close to his extended family so I don't imagine that will be easy. But we look forward to adjusting to our second year of marriage, and our first under the same roof! He'll be here by mid-April.

Yay! How exciting! Congrats and enjoy your hubby's arrival! Always happy to hear great news out of Pretoria!

Medicals

Hi All.

I'm getting conflicting info and am not confused about the Medical Exam for my spousal PR.

In the guide and doc checklist for Africa it says I should "include for yourself [Applicant]... Copy 1 of the Medical Report". When I arranged for my spouse to see the Panel Physician in Namibia she was advised they couldn't do it prior to the application. Has anyone faced this? What did you all do when you submitted for PR? Submit with medicals or wait for a notice from Pretoria?

Thanks!

Hi there. The doctor we saw in Malawi said the same thing. But i was adamant that we needed it done now. If you do wait until you hear from Pretoria it adds 60 days or so for them to review your application. I dont know how it works with the new form, but be persistant and tell them that you want it done now!!!

Good luck!

Thanks Ms. Malawi. We may have to wait to complete the Med Exams until after our second-born arrives in August because we will defer completing the chest x-ray until after the delivery date.

Agreed, unless they have changed the system, you need to submit a copy of the form (the doctor will give it to you - it has your picture attached to it) with your application package. I know through the visa officer that the #1 reason your file gets postponed is if you do not have all the necessary documents and forms in place. So not having the medical form in your package and not having the medical available to them will definitely add 2 months minimum to your processing time. I think if you are expecting, then the baby will also be admitted to Canada as your dependent, no?

Hi All. Its pretty quiet in here. I just wanted to provide a quick update. We had an interview on May 2, and received PPR on May 10. I attended the interview and it was interesting. For those going through Pretoria the advice I have for you is to keep the faith and realize those 23 month timeframes are fairly high for the average straight forward applications. I was shocked that we had an interview request within 3 months of sponsorship approval. So good things are happening in Pretoria!

Good luck to all!

Wonderful news!

I have what I think is a silly question, however me and hubby disagree on it. So I want to ask! Once CIC has changed your ecas status to decision made what does that mean? Is your passport sent back? Do they send you an email to say your passport is ready to be picked up? We sent a return waybill from DHL with his passport, and seem to disagree when and how he will get it back!!!

Any insight will be greatly apprecaited as I am getting just a little anxious to book a flight! Better for him to enjoy summer, before he gets introduced to Canadian winters!

For us, they emailed both of us to say visa was ready to be issued. We couriered the passport to Pretoria, and they couriered it back but we had to arrange and prepay for it all. From start to finish it took 7 days. Good luck and congrats! Summer arrival is so much better than a winter one!

Hello Pretoria,

Any still here? Hope everyone got PRs just looking for people from Pretoria VO

Regards,
Didilove

Not a popular VO but if people keep posting and updating, it stays near the top of the message boards!

Re medicals
my boyfriend and I are about to send in our application in a month or so- how does he go about getting his medicals done before we send our application in? from this forum and previous experience I assumed we had to wait for pretoria to send us the go-ahead at which point he goes for a medical and the doctor sends it straight through to pretoria. Correct me if im wrong, but it seems weird to suggest to get the medical done before you send in the forms and yet it seems you need a form to even complete a medical? If i can save two months, I definitely want to!

If you're applying from outside Canada you get them done before and attach a copy of th form your dr gives to you. Dunno if things have changed, but follow the package exactly as it is very detailed and will tell you what forms to include.
Find an approved dr on their list and he or she should know what to do. They send on the medical themselves, they just give u a form to include in ur pkg.

Make sure all your forms and info are comp, tee in ur package. Put N/A on any questions on the forms that don't apply to u. Don't leave them blank or they will assume you forgot. You increase processing times if you have anything missing from ur pkg.

Good luck!

Hello guys, some of you will remember me, it's been a year already, my first application was refused because my canadian husband's was not finalized in Canada when we were married in South Africa, we didn't go the appeal route, so we waited for a year to have our initial marriage annulled, and have remarried but the thing is while waiting for the annulment, God blessed us with a healthy baby boy, does anyone know if the second application will be processed any faster? We applied for our son's proof of citizenship will I still have to include him in my new application???

Thanks for your assistance
