Thanks for the response Josephs, and guess what... My step-son got a letter in the mail asking him to do his medical and get his police clearance. Seems like Pretoria REALLY is working fast!! Whoo Hoo!!

That's good! It means his visa is almost ready. Every email you get from them is a step closer to getting out of this nightmare. I hope he get's those things done quickly because the earlier the better.

Well we got email from pretoria that a new passport is ok..and that they note that a temporary passport is not submissable.
Whats strange is the email came today fri...but SA post showed passport delivered monday morning.
Just a delay is email response? The passport was there three days already with a sa post confirm. Why the response such as this?

Did you email them to inquire whether a new passport will pose any problem?

Yes, they emailed in response to our email that a new passport is ok. We asked before we sent new passport. Got ok response 3 days after pretoria recieved new passport.

You can't really tell with those people. I think the first (or/and second) time I email them they answered within 24hrs, but another time they took about at least 72hrs hrs to get back to me. Maybe it was just a delay in the response.
I am glad now you have the peace of mind that the new passport is ok. I know you were worried about it.
It always reassuring to know that all is good.

5 days with the passport at pretoria starts on monday...the happy countdown!

I took my passport there is person and it will be 5 days on Tuesday. I can't wait to have it back with the visa in it.

So you must live close to Pretoria. I wonder why they take more than a week with the passport while all the work has been done and a decision has already been made. I wish they could just give back the passport after 3 days and people can move on.

Yes, I live close to Pretoria. I live in Johannesburg which is just about 60km away from the VO.

Ilovewaiting, have you heard anything from the VO yet?
