What would be the best route or airline for my wife to come to canada from south africa.
It seems like she needs a transit visa for most countries...its a little confusing cause im used to my canadian passport not having dealt with that.

I think that as long as you stay in the airport without getting out, you don't need a transit visa. You can also check that info with a travel agent.
I would recommend KLM as in my experience it is the fastest. What is the final destination in canada (which province)?

Coming to saskatchewan.
KLM has a flight to amsterdam then vancouver...then Calgary...then saskatchewan.

I know the uk requires an airside transit visa even if you stay in the airport.

For Amsterdam..It looks like south africa is not on the list for transit if u stay in the airport.

well I didnt need a transit visa for Amsterdaam and I have a mozambican passport, so I guess thats the same thing as a south african one. KLM is faster and better,but also it depends on where you heading to Canada.
A travel agent should give you better options then,on faster routes or if your wife will need transit visas.

I don't know you better check the Canadian website for visa's as I am sure I read that you need a transit visa if you are passing through Canada... there is no cost but you must apply..... correct me if I am wrong..

We had to order a new passport but will only take 8 more business days.
a small hicup and non immigration related.
On the klm website theres a dropdown menu queationaire for if you need a transit visa...looks like no so far but i need to do a bit more reasearch..she should still be here in a month or so.

From my understand reading the klm link, she will not require a visa.
I also tried to do some research prior, but I was not able to find much.
You may also try to contact a travel agency to ask those question, they may have a lot of resources (you could also post the question on another thread to see what other members may say.

I have used travel agenst many times before and I never got charged extra.
Even if you won't book with the travel agent, you can use them just to get the information that you need.
It is good idea to call KLM as you said.

Im so used to mixing and matching airlines to save a few hundred bucks..but in this case i'll call a travel agent to make sure.

You don't have to book the flight with the travel agent. You can try to book the flight on your own as you say it saves you money.
If you call the travel agent just state that you are planning to book a flight from SA to canada, you want to inquire about the transit visa requirement for your wife's specific case. You may also ask them about different options you get to Canada from SA.
Who knows, maybe the travel agent can also be able to find you a good deal when you are ready to book.

Since we're replacing a lost passport before sending it to immigration..will there be any delays with the visa.
I know we get a new passport number...so now im.nervous.
The new one comes in 7 business days.
