Did the consulate ask for the RCMP fingerprints before or after the medical request?

I did my medical and will send my RPRF, but the consulate did not ask for the RCMP even though I reside in Canada.

They asked me for the RCMP fingerprint before the medicals, and even before they start officially processing my application. i proceeded to the digital fingerprint immediatly after they asked me by one day, and the RCMP sent the results to Buffalo after one day only from receiving my digital fingerprint.

I got to know about the date they sent it to Buffalo because i contacted them after one week of doing the fingerprint through the following email and they responded back same day confirming that they processed the results and sent it to Buffalo after one day:

Guys,

Regarding the PPR and the relation between it and the encashment of the RPRF.

There is no relation at all. In my case,

I sent the RPRF on may 13, and they cashed it on May18, deduct the two days off (weekend), you will find that it took them only 3 days to cash it.

Then i got my passport request, on Sep which is 4 months after medicals, and the RPRF encashment. (bear in mind that the RPRF was requested by them along with the medical request in the same letter, i did not do voluntarily).

When i inquired about the status of my application on July (2 months after medicals), they responded back the following:

We have requested background information from other government offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete.

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo
Immigration Section

buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca

Then i got so frustrated because i have seen so many poeple stuck under the BG check for years.

Two months later, on Sep, i decided to send another inquiry, and got the following response:

Yes, we have received the results of your background check.

Your application is in process. We are unable to provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete.

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo

Immigration Section

buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca

I was so happy with this response because i knew that my BG check is over.

After 5 days exactly from that response, i got the PPR via email.

By the way,

They have never asked me to send any additional documents for anything (except the RCMP fingerprint). even one of the police clearance was over one year already by the time they sent the PPR.

I even asked them whether they want my tax refund documents in canada (T20) or any other documents, they said no further action is required by me.

Wish you all the best of luck.
Hi professinal1,

I am in US and my processing is done in Buffalo, is there a way we can know that they are doing background check for my case or they will just do it and ask for PPR.

Thanks

I am not sure whether you need to apply for a new one to reflect your new status or it will be updated automatically. Anyway, just contact the health service department in alberta where you got your first card, and they will guid you.

Good luck.

Thanks, professional1!
When they say they're contacting other government offices, do you have idea which ones they're contacting? How are they doing the background checks? Because I came from a country where the govt response time is known to be sooo slow. And I hope they're not contacting my present US employer at this point. I'll be dead!

Yes, when you inquire about the status of your application, they will respond back saying whether they have requested background information from other governments or not. It is a copy and paste response they send to any case under the BG check.

However, i see that it is too early in your case to inquire about the status of your application because your medicals just reached Ottawa on Sep 23, 2010, as per your signature.

Actually, I have no idea how it works exactly, in my case they have never contacted any of my employers, and even the response "we have asked for background information from other government offices" is very clear that they are contacting governments not employers. Anyway, i have no idea which kind of BG information do they ask for, and how it works.

If there is background check in your case, they will never tell you what is going on, the only thing they say is "yes, we have received your BG results, or "no, we are still waiting for it".

Good luck.

Hi Professional 1 ,

Cograts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on your PR

Since i has been 18 months I submitted my app. and till today no progress, I wasn t comming on this forum but today i found that you are back, so i thought to ask you somthing. I ordered my CAIPS and shocked to see that untill now they did not gave me any points (not even my age points).after that i stopped thinking for PR. the most important line on the caips, which appears on all 6 pages is:

P File sent to PF File BF' D TO : PF ON 01.06.2010 Microlocator:, that date is long gone.............

I asked couple of times if someone tell me what is this PF but it seems no body knows. I mailed buffalo many times and all the time they gave me same reply (your case is in process....................). Professional 1, what is your views on my case??

Waiting for your reply

Hey bravoo,

Long long time no see, welcome back man !

Thanks for your congratulations.

Actually i do not think anyone will be able to know what do these codes stand for "PF, ROW,PA.........etc" some people say that it might be the initials of the immigration officer in charge of your applications, and others think it might be the section "department" where they sent your case to be processed there.

No one really knows what do these codes stand for, but for sure it is not the initial of the immigration officers, because if you have a look at the following link, you will see that no one of the officers have those letters as initials:

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/offices-bureaux/staff-personnel.aspx

Not having your CAIPS notes updated, and filled with your information, points, notes,....etc, does not mean there is no movement in your case, you know they do not always make a timely update on CAIPS, or e-case.

What was their response exactly to your email ?

By the way,

Are you still residing in canada as an international studnet, or you left the country to KSA ?

Today i received two thing by mail:

The permanent SIN card from service Canada, and the new study permit from CIC which i applied for on July (it post marked Sep 16), before i land an become a permanent resident by one day, but it just arrived today.

I tried to call them after i landed immediatly to stop the study permit renewal, and get the renewal fee "$125" back, but they told me, unfortunatly, your application was processed, and approved.

Actually they were very generous, and gave me the extension for 2 years I will keep it as a souvenir :)

Oh by the way guys,

After you get your PR status, and land, you can calculate the exact date you will be eligible to apply for the citizenship.

Go to the following link, fill the information and dates, then it will calculate the day automatically for you, mine is Sep 17, 2012 which is two years exactly from my landing date:

Hi abhi812,

This is your intial assessment letter, usually it comes along with the medical request, however, the format of this letter is different in Buffalo than it is in new york office.

In my case,

I have not inquired about the status of my application before they send me the assessment letter. They changed my e-case first to "In Process", and after one week they sent me the assessment letter along with the medical request forms.

In your case, i think you will be getting your medical request so soon by mail.

Wish you the best of luck.

Hi Professional My application was sent back from Buffalo. I had gaps in my personal history. The marked box reads like this:

Your submission does not meet the definition of an acceptable application as set out in Regulation 10 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. (see AppendixD)

Then below it says: All of your application forms and documents are being returned to you in this package. Unless you paid for processing bla blah..No record of your application ahs been retained by this office. Please return this letter and the attached appendices when you resubmit your application.

It is really vague!! Where do I resubmit my application? Buffalo? Sydney?? or is my case closed??? agh!! such a dissapointment. I also noticed that the application is stamped July 28 2010 yet it was sent back to me September 23rd. Which date counts?

Thanks in Advance

Dan
