Hi to all.

I have dispatched my file for FSW with AEO on 21th December 2010 from, India via DHL and which was recieved by CIC office on 29th December. I have email them for the status of my application and they haave send me reply after five days tht:

Good Morning,

RE: FILE# Bxxxxxxxxx

Be advised application is currently awaiting review.

Thank you

Whts this file no means , Is this my file number.

thx.

Hi - was your bank draft cashed/credit card charged? If so why are you tryiing to get an application status after such a short time?
If your application was received in late December then it will be late March/early April at the earliest before your eligibility review is complete, so there is no point in expecting any useful update until then

If you care to follow the link in my signature you can see the trends in the spreadsheet of when people are being notified and judge on that basis when you should be expecting to hear from them.

hey guyz.. i saw this in another post...look at the time frame of this application....just less than a year though this is a pre june apllicant....

seems like CIO is trying to clear the pre june applicants first... thought might help those wandarin how long the actual processing time will be...

thanx ash

The visa office issues the visa in the passport, not CIO. CIO will handle everything in the order that it arrives.

Visa office cannot quite do this exactly because >J26 applications are at a different stage in the process to <J26 applications.

We don't know exactly how visa office are prioritising >J26 applications but in all likelyhood they will slot them in behind <J26 applications which are already at the security/background check stage, but ahead of those who are awaiting eligibility review (since ours is already done).

By the way guys I am getting fed up of typing pre-June-26 and post-June-26 so I am now using the shorthand <J26 and >J26 :)

hey everyone...i think this is great, atleast CIO is giving applicants second chance by informing them about what is wrong in their application.

unlike those that we have seen with the initial batch of applications that got returned just coz of small mistakes....guess they have realised that 20,000 applications won't be received......

what say.....
cheers

Yes. I think punter has been very lucky, since usually if there is anything wrong with the documents it fails it's completeness check. CIO probably overlooked the Academic test but since they already cashed his money they cannot really fail him for completeness check now - hence why they are granding 120 days.

But, with respect, CIO does explicitly ask for general IELTS results (not academic) in their instructions, so IMO they are within their rights to fail applications which include the wrong test.

Anyway I am glad punter has a chance to correct his application.

Interesting. Some people did Academic IELTS (for some it was a requirement of their intended job) and were accepted...

Also I agree with you lawrence, pretty sure thats why things have slowed down.

Hmm since the instructions on the checklist explicitly state general test only, I think people who wrongly include academic test can't really complain if they are rejected since they are sending the wrong documents.

From the checklist:
Language proficiency test results from one of the following designated testing agencies:
IELTS (General Training test only).

I don't really like defending CIO but on this matter they are fairly clear :)

Did you realize guys that the medical request date & passport request date are the same, i have noticed that regarding many <J26 applicants such as FMA. Why they do that ? If the applicant doesn't perform the medical examinations or gets a bad medical results, they will have to return the passport to him again. !!!

Anyway it is a vague step, however it is a good one to hasten the process a little bit ;D

Hi,
Which part of document checklist does it specifies to take the general training module instead of the academic? Does the general training module holds true for all NOC? I've just browse thru the document checklist of my VO but I haven't find that states general training module.

here's what i've found.

8. PROOF OF LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Refer to instructions in the "Proof of your language abilities" section of our
website.
• Test results from an approved language-testing organization: You must
submit test results. You must provide the original. Photocopies are
unacceptable. Language test results must not be older than one year upon
submission.
Proof of language proficiency is required for your application to be
considered complete, otherwise it will be returned to you.

Dear Annjay,

Please refer to OP6

www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pd

Go through it , you will find that IELTS of GEN mode is only valid for FSW.

Thanks
Mayank

The CIO's own checklist (the main one you put at the front of your application) explicitly says that the IELTS must be general.

I think you should only include academic if the particular occupation requires it. In this instance I think you may have to submit both a general AND an academic test. But to the letter of their rules you must always submit a general test, and they are quite within their rights to fail anyone who fails to do so.

sorry to hear about applications being returned or are asked for IELTS-GT. I guess i'm blessed to have passed through considering i sent my IELTS-Academic Module test report form. Somehow you still are blessed to have been given the chance to comply with the requirement.

God bless you in taking the test. :)

no new PERs today?!!!!!!!! :(

THanks mayankpandya.

Got it page 33.

Note: IELTS offers ‗General Training‘ and ‗Academic‘ options. Only the ‗General Training‘ tests are accepted for CIC purposes. At least it is clearly stated there since on the doc checklist of my VO it was not mentioned there. Thanks again for the help.
