Hello Raecheal,

Me too in the same boat. I suggest you not to send out the application without a convincing birth certificate. We have applications returning for the same reasons . I am waiting to correct my parents names in the BC too. They look slightly different form the names in my passport and other documents.

Also i need to change the place of birth in my passport as per my birth certificate.

Thanks Indi, yes that would be wise to get the BC corrected, finished with IELTS an overall 8.

Once I get this BC sorted will send the appli, collecting docs and dealing with these officials is really frustrating.

As for your PP.... your problem should get solved...we pray for that. BUT you consider this ... It will ease lot of tension.....you at least try from your side (I know you are!!!!).... go to Thottipalayam municipality or the local "nagarpalika", show them your passport with Thottipalayam address..... try to meet the municipality commissioner and tell him that you want Birth certifictae...OR go to the Sub-Registrar office of Deaths & Births, for your area....catch hold of a clerk and ask this one question.....I WANT DOB cert., what should I do....(& give a hint that you are ready to spend 8)) Also try to be reasonable that you do have a passport. I feel it will work...only thing don't reveal that you already have a DoB cert....... If it didn't click then go with your instinct...and the plan that you were thinking of. Anyways, you do have time....but PP takes some time...people are not that cooperative in PP offices :'(

So was suggesting you for this solution.... sometimes a small amount of good genuine gesture (in the form of nominal amount), makes lot of difference. No harm in trying. Cheer up. Take care.

My father personally knows the VAO of our area, he confirmed that there is no way to get a fresh birth certificate issued, as my birth was not registered in that area. Also the other option would be to say that we never registered my birth, but they will question, how i got admitted into school etc.,. Even if we pass through those quizzes, we will have to go to the court and get it solved which will take months to settle down. This are on track for the other way around, I managed to convince the passport officer after repeated requests to change my place of birth with a due penalty of INR 1000(yes now he will recognize me very well - i met him for 6 times in a single day for all my queries and requests for consideration), and i just have to show up the new birth certificate to them to get the passport in tatkal in 3 days.

My new birth certificate was ready yesterday, only to find out that my parents names are not spelled in the way in my passport. So, i requested for a name correction for my parents in BC, for which they asked 2 official ID proofs in that correct spelling. One of the proofs will be my passport and the ration card. I will go and get it done by next week and then apply for my passport reissue again in one go. Yes, i have to travel 9 hours to there from Chennai every time, so i planned to stay @ my hometown for a week and finish this off. Mean while Prab can concentrate on his practice tests

I also have to do the name correction for Prab's parents in his BC, same way.

Looks like this list will never end :-[ :'( :-\

Wonder how all others are able to just get their documents in one go, and pretty quick

What i heard from the municipality office is that after about 1970s, it was mandatory to register births and deaths, failure to which would result in a conviction, court etc,.,. Even if i claim my birth was not registered, he would direct me to court . If you go to the court, it will at least take 3 months to complete the procedure and this one looks easier.

Fortunately, my IELTS score was ready and valid then, and I took a week-off from my work to collect the documents and fill the forms. I mailed the application on the 5th and they received it on the 9th July. I could have mailed it earlier but police certificates took sometime ;D

dont get frustrated, u will get it, as I told u earlier in ur NOC I assume that there will not be much competition, once u solve ur BC everthing will go fine for u. wishing u all the best.

If you remember I asked about CC number changed, and you said CIO will be able to change my CC number in their system, even if they can't change, they will contact me if there is something wrong with my CC. You seems very confident about this, did it happen in past to anyone, especially in recent months?
