Hi krokro,

Sorry to see your ecas not showing. I won't however worry so much about it though. At least you know that your application is now at the VO. From what we know of pairs VO, their processing time is not that bad, so with or without ecas you should expect some good news soon.

My best wishes

9j

Thanks 9 J, that comforting.
How about you, where are you at ?

Cheers,
Krokro

I assume you still have your Indian passport and in that case the holder is not allowed to send his/her passport out of the country via mail/courier.......Read the note on the last page of your passport.

But surely at that point his passport is already OUT of the country?

My understanding is you cannot send outside of India from within India, but you can send from one country to another if they are both outside of India?

I can't see the Indian government being able to enforce any legal jurisdiction on post between Ireland and England.

By out of the country I meant out of the country of RESIDENCE..........The local Indian Embassy can enforce it if needed........If I remember correctly they write somewhere on the passport that it's a property of Indian government........I had inquired about this issue with the Indian Embassy in UAE about 4-5 months back and they said it's not allowed.

Bottomline is - It should be with the holder or with the person authorised by the holder.

I don't have the note that they write on the last page of the passport - I posted it here sometime back but couldn't find it.

Hmm ok. Sounds a bit overly restrictive to me, but then I don't make the rules :)

But surely if the applicant is residing in a country without a visa office they can't expect the applicant to make a physical trip to the visa office in another country to deliver their passports? That's going to make an already expensive process even more expensive.

Our ecas changed to "In Process" 2 days after our PER. We reckon it's a bug as it doesn't show the "we started processing your file on xxxx" as it does normally for people who have gone In Process. It still reads "We receive your application n 12th January and sent you a mail on ........ "consider delay in delivery before contacting us". So we are now waiting for it to change to RBVO or beter still for them to just send us the Medical request. Wishful thinking, I know ;)

Do not worry on that.

My friend used India Post to send his Passport to his wife who is in CANADA. There was a delay of one month. That's the usual delay at customs for CANADA POST.

Dear Bourne,

I have send atleast 3 times my passport out of country to Buffalo, United States each time I renewed my visa. I did not find any problem. As I mentioned earlier when my friend tried to send the passport only India POst accepted , DHL or other courier services did not accept.

Yes there are such rules but i call them 'Lakir Ke Fakir' which literally means 'slaves of words'. They just created some rules 50 years ago and now they have to follow them just for the heck of it as changing them will make them look stupid Such rules are very very difficult to implement

Thanks for highligting tihs Jason, i note your point. My rant above is in no way against you. Yuo have been very helpful and i appreciate it.

Hi Pavan,

Ah. So it is a case that it is technically illegal, but realistically never implemented?

In the UK we have some very strange laws still in force. Like it is illegal, as a taxi driver, to drive a taxi in London without a pale of hay and some water in the back of your taxi! This stems from the days when taxis used to be horse-drawn. Since the law was never revoked, taxi drivers can TECHNICALLY be prosecuted for it - but realistically it is of course not implemented because the law is no longer relevant.
