Hi , I got my kit back in Jan and yesterday I noticed that though they had sent mine back due to the cap having been reached, they have actually opened my kit analyzed all the papers, punched it and put tick marks etc. Is it the same case with others whose kits have been returned?
My kit reached on the 28th of Oct and the last app considered this year was for the 27th oct in 1122 category.

Indira: Vancouver is a better place in terms of the weather but it is a more expensive city to live in. Toronto, on the other hand, gets the highest number of immigrants because it is relatively easier to settle down in.
Personally, I chose Vancouver for the weather and because I have a few friends there. In the end, you'll probably have to visit both to decide which suits you better.

It is only last night that we have planned to land in Toronto instead of Vancouver. Since beginning of my immigration process we wanted to land and settle down in Vancouver but after having taken views n opinion from several people and looking at the labor market, we decided just 12 hours back that we will land in Toronto.

Ok - Vancouver IMO is probably better with regards quality of life (it is in fact one of the top cities in the entire world for quality of life) and the things you can do there. And British Columbia is IMO the most beautiful province in all of Canada.

But Toronto is more of a job epicentre and it is easier to get a job there.

Many people start off in Toronto then move to Vancouver after they've got settled.

We decided to take the bull by the horns and go straight for Vancouver.

Plus if you settle in Vancouver you get to hang out with me+my wife, CanadaJimmy and Queencougar+her husband

Yes, I've read, researched so much on the Toronto Vs Vancouver thing on the forum and elsewhere, and then decided to land in Toronto. Of course both my cousin(in Toronto) and Friend(in Vancouver) will be able to help us to the extent of free accommodation(they have large enough houses) for the first few weeks.

I am aware of the fact that getting a initial job in Toronto is far easier and faster than getting that job in Vancouver

As for me, I'm an Executive Assistant and i believe it would be as easy/difficult for me to get a job as an EA or an admin assistant(worst cases i can take up less popular survival jobs too ) in any province.

Prab is an Architect and it's obviously one of the highly regulated occupation in Canada. As far as our research takes us, it would require a minimum of 2 years or more for him to get registered as an architect in any province. This two year would involve examinations, internships, courses etc and so Prab may not be able to get into a proper full time job until he gets registered.

I'm not sure if there is a difference between the time/complexity for registration for architects in Ontario and BC. If yes, that would be a factor to consider now.

The other option is Prab to forget about registration as an architect and start to focus on 'Project management' or 'Construction Management' which is a closely related section in his industry. He is currently focusing on designing, project and construction management. So it would be an easy thing for him.

I know Vancouver is 'The best place to live', beautiful, mild weather, costliest living in Canada etc.,.

I would like to know from people in Vancouver the ground reality there. What is the expected cost of survival(minimal accommodation - closer to public transportation, food - home cooking for 2 adults and a kid, travel, internet, phones, miscellaneous costs) in Vancouver and suburbs?

In Toronto, 2000 CAD is all it requires for the initial months without a car, as per my research. Looks like it is kinda possible to get a job for that figure and that would secure our funds until we get better. Just wanted to know what the difference would be if we chose Vancouver.

Currently the minimum wages for BC is 8.75CAD and Ontario is 10.25CAD. There must be a difference in the wages between both the cities.

Hello Indira,

I'm still waiting for your reply on Architects topic !

Concerning the landing city, I can tell you that most people chooses Toronto for Job issues, because it's the bigger city, financial center, and so on... But, it's not sure it will be as easy as we can forecast. Maybe others cities are more in need of specific skills that are saturated in Toronto... I think it's very hard to really appreciate these issues before being there..

On an other hand, you know that you can land in a city, and then move as much as you want ! I heard even in Quebec ! Once you get you PR card, you are free to move, you have the same rights as a canadian citizen (except voting)...

I would recommend not signing a long term rent for a house before being sure to settle there... The best way to do it is finding a kind of appart-hotel, for one month period, in order to have time for feeling you are at home and beginning you settlement.

I have not done much research on it, but just asked about three or four people residing in Vancouver and my deduction was a normal initial living is possible with 2000-2500 CAD. It's surprising that the amount is almost the same as TO, or maybe you have considered a higher quality of life in your calculations!

And when I compare my timelines with the other NDVO applicants, I feel that I am also lagging behind, considering the kind of work NDVO is doing. NDVO has been very efficient as far as processing time for post June 26 applications is concerned. The biggest worrying factor is the unchanged eCAS status in the last 78 days and 38 days since 2nd AOR without further communication from NDVO. ??? It's an old saying that no news is a good news, but definitely not in this case. There has to be some activity in otherwise dormant cases such as mine or your's.

The patience is the most difficult think in the life ,and some time could be like a killer.But,beleive me ,,you well get your MR soooooon ;D,Because you did a good job with your attached documents.

What about Saskatchewan and Manitoba. I thought these are good growing economies and less inflated also.

You should send 3 to 6 months bank statements, to prove the money is yours (6 months is better).

Where did this major amount come from? If it is from property or asset sale, then there is no problem you just need to also include documentation showing where the amount came from.

I assume from the profile pic that you are a ND applicant, in which case, you can send the bank balance certificate signed by the branch manager . That's what we did.
