There will be some awkward cases and this guy probably falls into that category.

If your additional information or interview brings up issues, you may still be refused.

Majority of people won't have such problems.
Indeed it is very rare that anyone will be refused a visa after medical requests - like 1 in a 1000.

However, if they are refused, I do not believe CIC will charge them a right of permanent residence fee. If the fee has been paid at that point I believe they will issue a full refund. However, obviously they will keep the processing fee.

I believe when they request MR/PPR/RPRF/PCC, the only things that remain to be checked/confirmed would (and should) be the content of these requested documents.

Going by how conservative they are in their communication, I don't expect them to request these documents unless they are pretty sure upto that point about the authenticity of the applicant and the provided documents.

Well, I don't understand when you say they have a backlog at visa issue stage......If they determine that they are going to issue the visa to a particular applicant, how long would (and should) it take for them to stamp the visa??.........

A fact: ND VO had 344 employees in 2003 and it could only have increased since then. I can only wonder what their daily routine is?

Their way of working (and reasons for it), though may be genuine, is beyond my understanding.

JasonBourne
It shouldn't take too long but it depends on workload.

We assume these people work like Ford Motor Company but in reality, they move staff around to augment different sectors depending on need.

Issuing a VISA may not be a priority to them even though it is to us.

Once they have a few free hands they issue VISAs.

Remember these VOs also process other immigration categories apart from FSW 1 and 2.

Agree with you on RPRF. It is refunded at any point of the processing should the application be refused for whatever reason. It is only when you have been issued with a visa that it is not refundable.

That's a relief. I for sure, though, dont want to be that "1".

You said in one of your earlier posts that med requests/RPRF/PPR are sent only after complete verification of documents. Considering that in many cases the med requests came within 2 or 3 weeks of the 2nd AOR (I got my med requests within 10 odd days of the 2nd AOR), would it mean that the VO must be either verifying documents of applications at random or they are super quick in getting the verification done? Or would it mean that they are doing both verification and security checks in parallel while asking for meds/RPRF/PPR only to hasten the process?

Confused as ever.

And I am sure there is someone just there to update the eCAS with his core performance indicator being "% confusion caused by eCAS update". :(

Well, since I don't actually SEE what goes on at the visa office all I can surmise is what I learn from posts here :) But Qorax does outline the process very well here:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t39578.0.html

That was written in April 2010 but I cannot imagine it has changed for post-June-26 applications after the 2nd eligibility review. Regarding background document checks, Qorax does clearly imply that a lot of it is down to the discretion of the visa officer

"The process involves many things. If our case file is well presented and the enclosures vouch the quality-quantity, adequate POF docs etc., there might not be a requirement of 'actually' calling the employers, references etc. The VOs have a way with that, they are experienced enough to ascertain the logical disposition of our case."

So if the documentation is very well presented and convincing, it is likely to undergo less thorough background checks than an application where the documentation is unclear or less convincing. And I imagine some of the background checks are spotchecks only and are not applied to every single application by default.

My post got buried under some heated discussions.....Plz spare few moments at your convenience to address my concern....

Advice needed - Especially from ND VO applicants

My wife's passport will expire in a year's time but I have the option to renew it now. The passport still has her maiden name and her parents' address. We used her maiden name in the application as the passport still had her maiden name at that time.

Now, the renewed passport will show her name as <Wife's first name My first name My last name> and will have our current address.

In this case, do I have to send the notarized copies of the renewed passport pages ONLY or do I have to send any of the application forms to include the above changes (name and address) ALSO?

Posting this again as I want to finish this ASAP.....

Hello Friends,
Do you think a previous unsuccessfull visitor visa application to US or UK or any other European
country be a cause of delayed processing ? My visitor visa application to UK and US made 8 and 19 year back respectively was rejected because the visa officer was not satisfied that I will come back. Please share if any of those still waiting ar RBVO/AOR or in process for a long time have a similar situation. Please also share anything out of the ordinary that your application might have.
If we know some common factor, we may draw some conclusions.

Thanks shalom. We've called the CIO and sent online query several times, we were repeatedly told to wait as our applications are pending review. There are a few of us in the situation (Check the white patch on the tracker ;)) we have been communicating via PM, we tried sending direct fax on the same day to the CIO direct fax line, same outcome - your application is pending review blah, blah, blah......... The only logical reason is to assume that they are carrying out verification of some of the doc submitted. Even that, to the best of my understanding is supposed to be done at the VO. For now it looks like there's nothing to do than wait..................

To Everybody: is it possible to obtain CAIPS note for an application still at CIO stage?

9j
hi 9j,

as far as I understand from our discussions here, you won't have any CAIPS notes until your application reaches IN PROCESS phase. I wanted to get them myself, but I am still RBVO...

It seems Buffalo first prefers to start Processing those FSW2 applicant's that their NOC is in the demand list, regardless of date you submitted your file.
So priority may be with NOC code not the application date. This is what I understand from our spreadsheet. Any idea?
