Hi folks,
I sent my app on Feb. 18 and it was received by CPC-Sydney on Feb. 22. I called them this morning as I don's see any update on e-cas since then but they are now saying "they don't have my application in their system". I am sure they received my application as I used CanadaPost Expresspost service to track the application. They are saying the application must had been returned to me but I did not receive it.
I am wondering did any of you go through this unfortunate event ever (I hope not)? What did you do or what can I can do at this stage to track my application? Is there any way to put an inquiry to track my application? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

I am so sorry about your situation. File a complaint with Canada post and see how it goes.

When you sent your application package to Sydney, did you have it signed by someone in Sydney? Canadapost offers that option right? If somebody has signed then thats an evidence that CIC indeed received your application.

If CIC have sent back, its usually through normal mail and depending on the province you live, it may be delayed also.

Contact CIC again and make sure whats going on? Then call Canada Post and inquire them too.

Thanks for reply NS_SJ. Much appreciated.
Actually I can see the signature on delivery online since I used CanadaPost Expresspost service, even I know the name of the signatory.
I'll call them again to see when they sent back (if it was) my application but I am not sure whether they will be able to tell me anything on this.
This is really frustrating :(

jrseee, check out my previous thread on what happened in my case: canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t138002.0.html

I send application in December, received December 7th. But by mid-march I saw no update on Ecas and when I called they had no record of my application. The call center rep told me to resend the application, which I did few days later. To my surprise my original application showed up as processed on march 24th. I called and they said duplicate application should not be an issue.

In your case if you have the stomach to wait, you can wait another 2-3 weeks to see if the application status gets updated online. I know it's very frustrating because all this time you're thinking you just lost 3 months if they don't find your application.

If someone signed for it and you were told, "they don't have your application in their system", that could simply mean it's still in the documents bucket and has not been opened or processed. They can't really tell you a thing otherwise.
I would just prepare a new application and keep handy, if you can stomach it, I would wait till end of May and keep checking ecas intermittently.

Thanks mtlBound and SenoritaBella for your advice!
mtlBound: I am glad to hear that you got your application back and restored on their system. Really it gives me a glimpse of hope.
SenoritaBella: People who applied in Feb already saw a status update on e-cas, so there must have been something wrong with my application :(. Even who applied in early march started to see the e-cas update.

Actually they also told me to apply again. I'll follow your advice - start preparing my application and wait until the end of May to see if anything happens for me.
mtlBound, you got it right - the only thing that comes into my mind is that I lost 3 months and that is also coupled with the pain I'll have to go through in order to gather all the supporting documents over again. But I hope things will be sorted out soon.
Thanks everyone who took their time to respond on my issue. Appreciated.

Here's my general reco, every time you send something away, you make a 1:1 copy of everything and store it in a safe place. When it is received, file it (or throw it away). That's what I am doing and this way it is easy to reference and/or restore something lost. It needs some discipline though.

+1. That is what we do too every time we send our application. The only problem is that some paperwork as school records, for example, can be submitted in the original form and it takes quite a time to order and receive it again...

Guys, this morning I called them again and have been informed that they are in receipt of my application. Although I don't see any status update on e-cas, the call center guy I talked to has confirmed me that they have sent an acknowledgement letter to my address on May 15. This is a huge relief for me :)
Thank you all for your kind advice and suggestions!

Not that much discipline is required. ;)

I also made copies of each of my documents that I sent, the receipts and stuff. Then I can reference easily if I have to give some information or if I forgot what I wrote in the application. I did that with both my PR and citizenship application.
