I'm the PNP applicant. My case is in Vienna since the 7th of June without any requests from their side.

I've asked them via CSE if the ned request has been sent and got following reply:

Please be informed that your application is still within our processing time target, information about our processing times can be found on our website at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/skilled-fed.asp#europe.
Medical instructions have not been sent to you yet. This will be done at a later date.

So, at least, someone is checking mails.
There is no doubt about it that they are checking the emails. The problem is answering or simply processing our files...

Good luck

I am impressed, looking at the recent posts in the new FSW2013 thread - several people posted having received medical requests already (from different Visa Offices)!
It will be interesting to see, if this trend continues to be true for Vienna, too (it would slow down previous economic-applicants even more - if that is even possible).

Mataiz looking at your timeline,I should say it makes me very discourage. Are you actually saying you did medicals about 1.5 year ago (since April 2012)?And haven't heard from them since then? That would be appalling if the case....
Guys, isn't there a rule that after medical you need to enter the country within one year?
I mean if this rule applies, and VO doesn't issue final decision within one year after ME completed, what happens in that case?

Yes, it is basically true. The medical examination is valid for one year. So one has to land within this timeframe, or the maximum validity of the passport - whichever comes first.

What happens, when the visa has not been issued one year after completion of medicals? Well, you have to take them again. This has already happened several times according to this whole forum - at several Visa Offices.

I find it weird that you are required to do an upfront medical examination for a Family Class Sponsorship even though the current processing time for Vienna is 12 months ... add the 1 month for processing of the Sponsor application in Missisauga and you are already looking at 13 months processing. And once the VISA is issued you still have to handle all your affairs in your home country before you are ready to move. That will take between 2 weeks to 3 months I assume. So in total we are looking at around 14-17 months.

The medicals are valid for 1 year (12 months!) ... I just do not understand why one has to do an upfront medical examination if it is pretty much impossible to land in Canada within the 12 months following the medical exam.

Well, I assume that they had a faster process in mind, when they set up these rules. And Vienna used to be faster, before Berlin and Belgrade VOs were closed (this was also true for Berlin). Both VOs had processing times of 8 or 9 months für FSW (economic) applications, and they were even faster provessing family applications.

I am pretty sure, they will get there again eventually.

Thank you for feedback. Yes I thought so.
Though, it is so unfair that one needs to take bargain of additional expenses by someone's else fault.

Well however it is, we are just about 3 months to the end of 2013. So since Vienna has nothing substantial to show for this year unless they make a magical turn around at the tail end of the year. We'd have to sadly start looking at 2014.

You mean I have to change my nick after all? 8)

However, since every VO has an annual quota, I would expect to see some action before the end of the year.

I recently stumbled across this information regarding transferred files from Buffalo to CPP-O. I have no idea, if this is true for other VOs (the timeframes certainly not), but at least it might indicate CIC's processing priority.

"Federal Skilled Workers
1. MI02/03 – All files received between June 26, 2010 and June 30,2012 will be assessed in 2013
2. MI01 – Files received between Feb 27, 2008 and June 25, 2010: as many as possible will be processed in 2013. There is a commitment to complete MI1 cases by fall, 2014.

Since 2008, CIC has issued a series of ministerial instructions to attract applications that meet changing labour market conditions. The first set of instructions were broad, and attracted more applications than were anticipated or required. CIC attempts to balance the need to process both these older applications and newer ones that may better reflect current market needs. As a result processing times are longer for some of the older applications. We anticipate all applications received between February 27, 2008 and June 25, 2010 will be processed by fall 2014, allowing CIC to move to a faster, more flexible system"

Hey guys, I have just received my GCMS notes from Vienna Office, and I can tell you NOTHING has been done on my file.Except for some personal data, history of my file info, registration and movements, everything else is NOT STARTED.I guess now is seems very clear to me there is surely a looong wait ahead...

This doesn't look good at all. This makes me now to set my mind to 2014 for the finale of my file as I am sure not much can be done before end of 2013.

May God bless us all.

Hello friend

I am a family applicant, so as a consolation to you, I inform you that Vienna has not touched even a single application from family sponsorship as wel for the whole year 2013 and some applicants left over from 2012!
It's is a puzzle as to why Vienna has not worked on anything this year!

Regards

Thanks Messenger,

That consolation helps a bit.And I wonder why someone on this thread mentioned last week that the strike didn't affect Vienna,I don't think that is true as there is every reason to believe it did.But I think you guys (from Family category) will probably get the treated ahead of us as it normally is.
Vienna should be able to explain why this lack of activity or progress for more than a year now

Ok guys, since now that the strike has been called off, lets see what happens next.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/striking-diplomats-reach-deal-in-labour-dispute-1.1869907
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/business/Foreign+service+workers+reach+tentative+agreement+with/8964047/story.html

There is just one reason why I am not so excited about the news, I have never believed that the Vienna V.O was effectively affected by the strike in the 1st place because it was never included as one of the V.Os affected by the strike. But may be I am wrong, lets see if there would be some kind of noticeable improvement very soon.

Looking at what came out of Vienna during the last year (or so), anything from Vienna would be an improvement ;)
