This is really strange (responding at odd time) but RPRF request is a good sign. I think they got ur wife Medical reports and finalizing ur case (crossing finger). Wish u good luck, u r a great inspiration to many of us. We would be really happy to see a happy ending of ur story.aidina said:I had made an inquiry about the status of my application a day ago. They just said as we requested earlier today, please pay your RPRP and wait .
Thanks man.kaziahmmed said:This is really strange (responding at odd time) but RPRF request is a good sign. I think they got ur wife Medical reports and finalizing ur case (crossing finger). Thank you for your response. I know that for traveling to the US and coming back to Canada TRV is not required. But I have to go to another country and I'm curios if somebody applied for TRV while waiting for PR under the PhD stream.Houra said:You don't need a TRV if you are only traveling to the US. As long as your study permit is still valid, that is sufficient.
Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, Section 190 states:
(3) A foreign national does not require a temporary resident visa if they are seeking to enter and remain in Canada solely
(f) to re-enter Canada following a visit solely to the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon, if they:
(i) held a study permit or a work permit that was issued before they left Canada on such a visit or were authorized to enter and remain in Canada as a temporary resident, and
(ii) return to Canada by the end of the period initially authorized for their stay or any extension to it.
I think you can send an email to Ottawa and ask them about the status of your application. Explain them that you have received your GCMS notes and the security is not started.mehroonir said:Hi guys,
Does anybody have any idea why after almost 19 months our security check has not even started? We have passed everything months ago. Our application easily got 71 points and we never had any problems nor any delays in sending documents.
It is getting very frustrating. Study permits expire soon; Passports expire soon; Our embassy in Canada was closed last year, so it will take ages to renew passports.... It's a real headache
Since many of the recent posts have centered around immigration security screening, I thought this would be an apt time to describe the privacy act and what is covered under it vis-a-vis the CSIS.N_O said:BTW, what is the case specific inquiry under the privacy act?
Thank you very much for the informationbeh467 said:I think you can send an email to Ottawa and ask them about the status of your application. Explain them that you have received your GCMS notes and the security is not started.
Another option is that you can go to your MP and ask them to call Ottawa about this.
The passport renewal is not hard and is done in 2-3 weeks. I have done it this February. You can find the required information here: http://www.daftar.org/far/default.asp
Look at here (applications 2-5). It seems (s)he was not sure to start it or not, and finally has decided 'not to start' ;-)beh467 said:I sent an email to Ottawa yesterday and asked them about my application status because the processing time is more than 15 months.
This is their response:
Please note that your application is in process. No further action is required by you at this time.
An immigration officer will be in contact with you if any further correspondence is needed.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
I think it was better if i had asked them specifically about my security which is not started.
These days immigration processing i guess gets slower, many of us who are waiting for our next step is taking longer than our expectation. Therefore if ur CC doesn't charge even within 3 months I won't be surprised. U can order for ur GCMS/CAIPS report once u get ur file number (from sydney office). Keep patience u have to wait for many many months like us. I am on my 15 months, some of us even waiting for 18/19months. U job offer could give u additional points if u r not really worried on ur pass marks. Case information is actually the GCMS/CAIPS note, it can be applied in two different ways one is under access to information act and privacy act. One is free and the other once charge 5 dollars, both takes similar processing time (~1 month). When u request in future, I suggest u better to apply the one which charge 5 dollars since sometimes some applicants found no tracking of their request after one month which is very frustrating.albaik said:Hello Guys,
I'm new to this forum. I just sent my application on June 7th, 2013. No CC charge or any form of communication from CIC. (I expect a charge by the end of this month). I've applied under the PhD stream, however, I've done a job interview & expect to receive a full-time continuing job offer by the end of this month.
I have several questions, your help is much appreciated.
1. Is it better to change the application from PhD to Arranged Job Offer?
2. If yes, how can I make such a change?
2. Do I need LMO?
Can I ask for case information under the ATIP? or should I wait until my file is transferred to Ottawa?
I read some posts here talking about GCMS and due dates, what are those things related to? How did you guys obtain them?
Best Regards,

To apply for GCMS/CAIPS note plz follow the link in my signature. Good luck.
You would have to withdraw your application in the PhD stream and resubmit a new one under the FSW stream that fits the 29 qualifying job description. For this, you need to find the appropriate NOC code first and then make sure this fits under the FSW program in terms of intake. An LMO is indeed required before you get a job offer. Since you have Canadian work experience for 12 months, why wouldn't you apply under CEC? I'm assuming this was full time continuous experience...albaik said:This is why I need an advice of how to change the category from PhD to Arranged Offer of Employment (if it's recommended).
If you can shed some light on the mechanism to change the category and if the LMO is required or not as I have been working with the same employer on a work-permit for more than 12 months.
