Go talk to the people in your department, They will probably say you can claim 37.5 hours as a RA.If they say so, you can be honest and write a cover letter saying that the information provided in your previous application was wrong due to your supervisor misinterpreting your working hours.
i don't think this is a good idea!....they can very well call up your supervisor and i don't think he/she will be happy if they get put in the hot seat for misrepresentation!....overall i don't think it is a good idea to contradict job details specified in your first application (especially the hours and pay rate)..also say you do claim 37.5 hours a week now..how about the pay rate?..you'll have to keep your annual pay same as in the old letter meaning you are claiming you worked more hours for the same pay as before which i assume will make the whole pay rate go under minimum wage...this is indeed a red flag!....a CIC rep who gave a talk in our university said this is one of the things they look for in reference letters...

But we do now know that RA is usually counted as 37.5 hours. If he actually presents the wrong hours again, then he will really be misrepresenting himself. If he presents proof that he actually worked as a RA for 37.5 hours, from Registrar/Department, that information is more acurate than a letter form his supervisor. I actually strong discourage everyone to even tell your supervisors that you'll be applying fro Residence. He doesn't need to know and you can get everything you need from your Department.

Finally got my PER e-mail today (Feb. 18) :D :D :D :D

Plz update my info in the tracker, money order was encashed on Feb. 02 and no. of applicants is 2 not 1.

For those who do not know, this is my second round as my first application (reached CIO on Oct 01) was returned back to me due to CAP limits. This time I used the same CELPIP report that I got open with my returned application, but I have attached a cover letter mentioning that I received it like that from my first round.

Thanks a lot guys, this forum was extremely useful for me, thanks for everyone who is participating in this forum.

Thanks TyrusX. If I change the hours I worked per week as an RA in my letters, is it considered dishonesty?
The story is that last year my supervisor wrote only 15 hours work per week in my RA letter. But he agrees that he can correct it and write more hours ex. 20 hours per week.
But if I write 20 hours per week in my new application, is it considered dishonesty? Honestly, I believe I worked more that 15 hours/week.
You need 1950 hours of continuous work experience.

If you have 15 hours per week then you need to show 130 weeks of work.

Just claim 15 hours per week and a total of 780 hours per year.

Try to show your work experience as continuous. If you are touching 1950 hours then no need to contradict your own previous application.

@kenneyjason if the May intake is very limited, what will be the June - December intake? Will it be another FSWP intake before EOI?

Jason Kenney ‏@kenneyjason
@Yuri_Ivanchenko A very ltd number of new FSWP applications will be accepted prior to EOI, because we still have a 100K person FSWP backlog.

well i think there is no choice now other than to go by what he/his supervisor wrote in the first letter...and for a fact we all know that we work sometimes 16-20 hours a day...but that is all irrelevant here..the max we can claim is 40hrs a week...and yes i understand you can get everything from your department...but when you are in a Ph.D program you are responsible directly to your supervisor (atleast that's what it says in my contract letter!)..and for the purpose of my reference letter when i went to the department, they said the supervisor should write the letter but that he can't write more than 40hrs /week because that is the department norm...so i told my supervisor this and he wrote accordingly...in my lab we have had alot of international students in the past and my supervisor said that the only thing to be careful is that the department and supervisor don't contradict eachother in their statements...
as for this situation, i think CIC will view the second application more vigilantly and immediately spot this discepancy if you plan now to change the hours worked....so i stand by what i said and think it's not wise to change the hrs now...

I agree with you in parts, but if someone states your working hours incorrectly, i think you do more damage by standing by the error than correcting it with concrete documentation. I will suggest the interested part look for the Inadmissibility Manuals in the cic webpage for more information.

but the question is will the supervisor admit the mistake on his part or not...if he does, then i think it's better to get that in writing and put it along with the new letter...but even then, CIC can ask the applicant why he didn't note that his hours weren't written corectly...again a case of misrepresenation or negligence...overall i think it'll backfire

No he won't admit that. He can only provide me with another letter, in which case, I'll be alone defending against misinterpretation.

You probably signed a contract when you got you RA. Ask your department for a copy, or the secretary of your supervisor, and see what is written there.
