I had some similar issue. I suggest that you try member of Parliament. He/She will ask you to sign some kind of representative form so he/she can contact CIC on your behalf. Prepare the new payment form before contacting the member of Parliament.

So what I need is that prepare the new form, and contact the member of parliament and ask he/she to help me with this issue. right? Should I go and meet in person or just by e-mail?I don't have any experience with this kind of things...

Hi guys,

I just got back home and found my rejected application :'(. I sent it on Oct 24th and the letter of rejection is dated December 17th. I think it only got here after NYE.

The reason for rejection was: "You have not provided sufficient evidence that you have a minimum of one year of continuous full-time .... in the primary occupation in the last years.". I applied only with TA and RA experience, i.e., only NOC 4012.

I seriously cannot believe this happened, after reading all the posts here and all the effort I put into those letters trying to prevent this. I practically had to beg the Departmental secretary to make the letter following the guidelines I found here.

Anyways, is this it for me and the PhD stream? I guess there is no way I can't resubmit now. Can I somehow appeal the decision? In case anyone is interested/feeling sorry for me/experienced/ I can try sending you the two letters I submitted, one from the assistant to the program director (focusing only on TA), and one from my supervisor (TA for her and RA). I assure that both were very detailed in terms of the number of hours and the relevant NOC duties. In RA experience alone, the letter specifically quoted 20 hours/week since August 2011.

Hi, did u provide TA or RA with out break? work exp must be continues for a period of time, which makes it equivalent to 1year full time... in other words, u should demonstrate 1560hrs of work obtained continuously with out break...

If this is the case go and see the local MP office..

Yes Derra, plz ask ur mp office to fax+email ur form to CIC. MPs emails have very high privilege and respected so that they will take right action in no time..

Plz remember to remind ur MP office to incorporate ur UCI, Address and other details in the email.

I took a quick look at your letters. If I am not mistaken, you have not provided the number of hours for your RA work. Unless your TA work satisfies one year of continuous full-time job experience under 4012, I'm not surprised that they did not approve your application.

Actually, in the second page it specifically says "These are the areas where he has been assisting me in his work as a research assistant, spending about 20 hours/week:". It was stated before that I had started in August 2011.

In retrospect, I should have simplified the letters a bit, I tried to add as much information as possible but then maybe they got too complicated and missed the punchlines.

Then he contacted CIO and luckily one of the officers send an email to him and ask him to return his application to CIO (even the officer mentioned his name and desk to be delivered directly to him/her).

Since they sent the whole package back, and the NER states that they did read the letter from the university (it's not that they mistakenly missed it), I think it's unlikely that something like this would happen.

Oh! Why don't they just have useful call centres! It would be so much easier if you could talk to someone who can look at the file and have authority to do anything.

Hi, yes, I did, links to the letters are in a previous post from today. How does the MP office work? Do they look at the application and make a petition in your name? Thanks!

Thank you for the info and the link! I have looked at louit_tatz1's posts and even though his/her reason for rejection is different, it is useful information regarding the next steps. It is a bit disheartening that the lawyers fees are of the order of $250/hr though. BTW, if anyone knows of a good lawyer in Toronto, please let me know.

The word press link seems a bit old (2011) and I think it is unlikely that the procedure outlined would work, but I might give it a try.

One friend of mine also got his application back (without a full completeness check) because his university gave him an incomplete "Letter of Attestation". The letter did not state "Student is in good academic standing"....They could have checked directly the university (one email was sufficient to check ) but.....i do not know why CIC is that bad.....Could not imagine if they are working in Canada or somewhere....##

Yeah, the 25hr was chosen on purpose after I read some discussion here about how a week is supposed to be 40hr and if you are a full time PhD student you are supposed to dedicate at least 15hr for that, leaving 25hr for "work".

If they knew that I actually work about 80hr/week

I think the reason is more towards the line of the dates not being extremely clear in the letter (and them not taking the time to read it thoroughly).

need a piece of advice from senior members. I submitted PCC (dated June 2014) with my application (reached CIO on 8 September 2014) . Do you think I should prepare another PCC? Will I be asked to submit PCC again? Or I am just a paranoid?
