Thanks phdapplicant. I'm sorry to hear about your NER, but we know very well how random this things are. Lets hope your appeal goes well, I'm sure it will.

We also know that they are working on mid December cases. They will probably work on Jan applicants late next week.

phdapplicant, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will overturn your rejection case. It does look like that Ottawa might have different interpretation than the CIO, even regarding matters at the face value and assigning points, and it does look like that they would always try to find reasons to reject applications (I started thinking that they maybe prefer to reject applicants at the VO stage since your fee would not be refunded by then). Also, didn't you also include the other work experience from other countries as well? How come they didn't count that? It really seems that, once again, we would need to educate Ottawa regarding the 5 adaptability points, which would hopefully mean that they would overturn your rejection. Once again, I'm very sorry to hear their decision, and I'm really hoping that the appeal would in your favor. The next several months will really be nerve-racking for all of us..

I am sorry to hear that too.

That will not be good to our applicant who already did appeal at CIO. Does that mean Ottawa PO still have change to not award the adaptability points for us. If so, that will be too much if we have to appeal twice!

Does anybody know if it is okay if we provide updated work experience history for the re-application in case we didn't include it in the previous application?

Sorry for that PhDApplicant.
I remember previously they notified the applicants of the insufficiency of their points so they have time to satisfy it.
Can you still try to make it a PER? or is it completely rejected?

I hope the first is the case.

Thanks guy. It's always great to have fellows like you.

I have sent my appeal to them via email. I will keep you posted.
I started to worry about mine as well. However, it is not common that they did not explain why no adaptability points were assigned by quoting the ACT.

The other thing is I am wondering if there is an office number of Ottawa in the letter which is usually at the very bottom in the address section. Usually it is like "Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa | Centre de Traitement Pilote - Ottawa - xxx"

Do you have such a number? What is it?

:( Does anyone count on work experience from other countries than Canada?

Without that, I don't have 1-year of continuous work experience.

Once again, I am sorry to hear the message.

You could appeal in two aspects: 1) two years of study experience 2) your previous work experience if any included

It is unfair that they don't count your previous work experience before PhD.

Clearly any work experience anywhere is counted. They just need to make sure it is related to your profession.
That makes sense. I checked the spreadsheet that others with foreign work experience did not get rejection.

They are so stupid! without adaptability points most of PhD applicants have only 66 points (at best). why would they have such a stupid bug!!? that's frustrating!!

To clarify
- Some of my work experience outside of Canada is counted. Some other experience is not counted since I was unable to provide a complete letter from former employers with details of my duties.
- My RA/TA is counted as work experience

I will try to call Ottawa tomorrow to "educate" them about the 5 adaptability points. I guess this PhD Stream is very new to them so not all reviewers in Ottawa is well-informed about that. I will keep you posted.

What should we write to them about the adaptability points? I think if many of us write so, it will empower applications of all of us. I am going to claim it as well.
What specific things should we write to ask about the adaptability points?
