I'm pretty sure that you can apply through two different classes concurrently, e.g. PNP and FSW. However, I'm not sure of phd stream is different from express entry or just a sub-category. In current system, phd stream is a specific category of FSW and therefore, you can apply through both. Next year, FSW will be a part of express entry which makes me doubt if you can use both.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that before the express entry at least, you can submit two FSW applications to be processed simultaneously. Not sure if they change the rule though.

To simultaneously apply for PNP and FSW, different provinces have different rules, I believe. New Brunswick, for example, used to reject applicants applying for another class while applying for their PNP several years ago, although I have not checked their latest rule.

You are right.

That section was removed few weeks ago and was left as a blank field. If I were you, I would have hand-written CPC-Ottawa (VO requested) and included a cover letter to explain my hand-writing, but no worries it seems that Sydney will now have to work double in order to find out what Visa Office is the most appropriate to send your application. I hope your study permit is currently valid for more than one year, otherwise there is a chance they send it to the Canadian Embassy in your home country :(
Ugh ... I should have added this line in the cover letter. I did try to ask a couple times on the forum about this very issue before I sent out my application. But I didn't get this advice earlier and it seems to make sense :( Also my study permit expires November next year so its not valid for 1 year from now ..

Hi,
I got email from CIC asked me that if I have any changes in my family composition from our last correspondence, I must inform them immediately. So If I haven't got any changes, DO I NEED TO REPLY THEIR EMAIL AS WELL?
Thank you

I suggest you write a brief reply mentioning something like "NO CHANGE in my family composition since our last correspondence....". This will clear any confusion whatsoever. That's what I did when I was asked this question in my passport request email.

If that email came with your RPRF request and you have no changes in family composition, there is no need to reply it. As far as I can remember the email says, if your family composition has changed you must inform immediatly to CPC Ottawa. Therefore, if it has not changed then there is no need to reply.

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone tell me what is the CLB Level for IELTS scores that my spouse got.

Reading - 5.5
Writing - 6.0
Listening - 6.0
Speaking - 6.5

Do they give us points for this (5?). Although these questions might be repeatative for some but i need an answer. I read from the CIC website that spouse has to get at least CLB 4 to get 5 points.

Also how many months it would take to receive file number from Sydney after the submission. (I sent on Nov 9 and it was received on Nov 18, 2014 under PhD Category) I am seeing App Filed in the timeline of the most members here. Could anyone clarify whether it is after you receive your file number or your application received by CIC?

Thanks.

IELTS CLB level 4 is:
Reading - 3.5
Writing - 4.0
Listening - 4.5
Speaking - 4.0

Actually your spouse got overall CLB level 6 (check this link: http://www.ieltsessentials.com/clb/index.html#) and he/she definitely qualifies for 5 adaptability points as "accompanying spouse".

In my profile, "app. filed date" is the date when my application package reached Sydney. "AOR received date" is the date when I received the PER email with file number.

How do you know that your application was received on Nov 18? Did you contact them?
