I just tried it (that mystery-solver in me, again..). Turned off my wireless and tried the locally-downloaded PDF Form, filled it out and hit Validate. It still generated bar codes for me...

Given you have to print the form out anyways, to sign it, and mail it in, I don't really see what the online fuss is for :) It might be for people who can submit other forms online (such as visitor extension).

Is it ok to hit the 'Validate' button when you're finished filling out each form?

OR, is it better to wait until you're ready to print them out to send into the office?

It doesn't matter when you validate the forms. Whether you do it now or 2 weeks from now. It stores the info based on the info filled in applicatiion. Not when it is validated.

Help! I'm trying to fill out the form IMM5490E (Spouse Questionnaire) and I can't fill in over half the fields!

I use Foxit Reader. I opened it with Adobe Reader = same problem.

I downloaded a new copy -- still can't fill in several of the fields.

They are not grayed out, I just can't type anything into them. ????

Hey guys,

I am an international student here and recently decided to marry my girlfriend who is Canadian. Since the processing time is much shorter in my home country than in Canada, is it possible to apply there for PR while studying here as an international student??

And second thing... she is a student and she is currently taking a student loan, does it matter in this case? does she have to prove she has the funds to "sponsor me" ?

Thanks in advance for any reply

You might get a faster answer if you post this in a new thread of your own. :D

Yes you can apply outland and stay in Canada. Shouldn't matter about my loans. My wife sponsored me and had student loan debt. She just can't be on welfare.

Sorry Benni, no idea about the pdf reader issue :(

To be honest, you can have $0.00 showing in your bank account and still sponsor. The government just wants to ensure you aren't on welfare. That being said, they also want you to know that the sponsor is on the hook for the person being sponsored for 3 years iirc. That being said, my wife and I did send financial statements with our app, just to show we had a joint account, and that we had some finances, however limited.

Yikes! For the FBI check -- I've read everywhere in the forums that it takes 6-8 weeks to get back the results.

I was reading the CIC site to refresh my memory of the procedure and it says that it takes 16-18 weeks!!

We are getting married in April, then sending in our application. So, should I order that now?

I know the results have to be within 3 months of applying.

Now I'm feeling pressured. Jeez!

You want to time it so that the FBI check is the LAST thing you're waiting on before you send in the app, because it is the most time-sensitive thing after all. So if you have everything else set to go...i.e. you did an up-front medical exam, you have an Option C form from Revenue Canada (if applicable), your forms are all filled out (indicating the proper marital status), and you HAVE a marriage certificate, then you'd probably be safe to wait until about February to do the FBI check., in my opinion.
