Do you have lots of travel history or anything in your application that can make security check longer than normal?
As you are March 2016 applicant, by September 2016 you should have got the golden mail if there was nothing complex in your application. Apologies for my ignorance if I missed something.

Not sure what their criteria is as I have only been to my home country and UK where I have been living for 6 years and have provided police certs. I have done a govt job and that was only for 1 year and a bit.

I think your stay in UK for 6 years and the government job could be the reason for the the delay. I understand the frustration when you have provided all the correct documents. But sometimes BG checks could take longer than the normal time.

No i dont think the stay in UK is a problem as there have been others who have got ppr. I thinks its govt job for which i am not even claiming any points so whats the point. Even if that is the case then really they should keep us informed regarding any reason for delay. Hiding things makes us speculate and complain. We even think they are not doing anything. So if they open up at least we will know what is going on. Just saying security check is not enough especially when you are not considered a criminal. I mean if someone is a security threat then surely he must have got a criminal record of some sort. So when criminality is passed then security should not take years.

What I understand about security check through this forum is that the security check is dependent on external agencies, something that is beyond CIC's control. Criminality check uses PCCs that you would have given for different countries. I may be wrong here, but this is general hypotheses.

Also, I understand the frustration about not knowing the reason behind the delay in processing. But we do not have any other choice than to wait for the golden mail.

I completely understand your frustration. I have gone through 16 months of it. I too held a government job way before I applied for EE. It was only a two and half year stint, and I did not claim any points for it. But it is a part of my personal history and I understand that they need to do a thorough check. However, in my opinion, the information between CSIS, CBSA and IRCC often gets lost or simply neglected for months at the time. Maybe even agencies outside Canada (in your home country or wherever it is that you held the position), are the ones slacking and taking forever to deliver information. So it is a long and a very very frustrating process. I have been on this forum for a very long time and I have seen people who held government jobs go through security checks in 3, 6, 8 months... and we simply cannot know in what way IRCC conducts those. I suggest you keep pestering them and question them about your application all the time so it doesn't get forgotten.

Congrats you are finally through and thanks for your advice. I am planning to keep them aware of my application.

I did send NDVO an email yesterday. Hoping they reply soon!
