Yes very possible. I have heard of people getting rejected after 'BG in Progress' for second time.

But my 6 months were in complete silence - no updates, no notifications, no emails....

It's ironic. I used to think 'BG in Progress' was a good sign. Don't think so anymore. It just seems like an Indicator that some internal process is complete.

Don't know what to think anymore as the days go by. The last month is a very long and frustrating wait.

I am having similar experience. Its absolute silence, no change on my profile statuses since my medicals passed on May 6th, but i am going to have my GCMS shortly in next couple of days which gives me clear picture.

However, there was no change on MyCIC. Background Check and Eligibility Review still in progress. Does any of you know if it's normal to go like this?

This is normal, many people see no change in their profiles. It may change later after they stamp your visa and issue COPR.
What's your VO?? Ottawa?

I'm not sure. I have to send the passport to São Paulo/Brazil, so I think that's my VO, right?
