how many does does it typically takes for the CIC guys to complete the background check.

on August 19th my profile has an update and background check is in progress from there onwards.

what is typically done in a background check ? any idea ?

No, you gotta have your ECA and language test results in order to successfully create your EE profile and enter the pool.

Yup .You can check in your MY cic account and adter that you need to wait for ECAS access

For now I need to know if my application is still in play, as the status says cancelled, but when I go to check messages it says open...

I don't think I have access to ECAS yet (sent the application last Friday). When I try to login (if I do it correctly - I choose Application Number from the dropdown menu, and enter my EE profile number), it says "We were not able to identify you using the information you provided."

It should be technical issue . You need to wait Brother, . Other than that there is no way to get the details..

I think you can only reply at first. Till 5 or 10 posts... not sure anymore. You also get to modify your profile later.

My ECAS status changed to In process...

When sending CSE for change in family composition (adding newborn) what documents should be uploaded? Would it suffice to just send birth certificate as passport will take time? Will they ask for newborn medicals? And lastly how does this affect timeline? Aor recieved on 4th august, medical passed and ecas 3 lines. Baby due next month. Will it put the application on hold?
