You have to mail your passport with 2 pictures and a pre-paid envelope. Better to mail it as soon as possible.

Since my passport was close to expiring, I had renewed my passport & had sent details of my new passport to CIC through CSE.

I'm left pondering over the fate of July AORs. From what I have noticed, majority of July AORs are still waiting for a decision in their PR application with most of them having the latest status as BG check "In Progress".

When was your AOR ? Accordingly, I can advise you whether you have to renew your Passport or not.

We can send details to CIC through CSE (Case Specific Enquiry). CSE is mainly used to send any documents or explanations to CIC after you have submitted your PR application. Please check the following link of CSE for your reference.

My thought exactly; they seem to be so focused on FSW Inlanders and may be FSW outlanders in the US, which is okay. In the least, the backlog is getting cleared gradually.
