Hello Everyone!
I have been reading up on the Family Class Sponsorship and have most of the info I need. I know most if not all these answers have been answered already in other forum topics but I just want to clarify things to make sure I am on the right track. Thank you all for your help!

I am a Canadian living in Canada and my wife is Japanese living in Japan. I want to sponsor her to Canada using the outland application.
(1)Would there be any problems with her visiting Canada for around six months while the application is in progress as long as we can satisfy whomever that she is planning on returning? Since a visa is not required my Japanese citizens I don't think this should be too much of a problem-
(2)What are the chances that she would have to return to Japan for an interview? My understanding is if we can prove that our relationship is genuine the chances are low, am I correct?
(3)Is #2 the only major downfall of using the outland application? If yes I don't see why anyone would use the Inland application unless spouse is already living in Canada
(4)If my wife gets an interview does that mean I would get one too in Canada?
(5)How does one sent in proof of a genuine relationship? If I included all relevant pictures and emails and messages I would be sending in a book... They don't accept DVDs do they?
(6)Would there be any problems with me visiting Japan while the application is in process? I don't see why there would be unless I get called for an interview...
(7)For a spousal sponsor do I have to prove I can support my wife or is it only if we have dependents that I need to prove this? I've read articles that say yes and some that say no.
(8)After the application is approved is there a period where we cannot leave Canada for say a vacation?
(9)For the criminal background check-My wife spent some time in Korea(a few years) studying. Does she need a criminal check from Korea as well?

Thank you all for your help again and hopefully I can get my application out soon XD
1 There should be no problem if, like you said, you can satisfy the VO that she will leave at the end of her visit.
2 Exactly as you've stated. Be diligent in the proof you send but you really can't be 100% if they'll call for an interview or not
3 And the fact that if she's going to be visiting you for a long period of time she can not work or go to school. Since she's only a visitor to Canada. I am doing this right now and it sucks only having one income.
4 I've no idea about this. Hopefully someone can answer it.
5 You can print photos, emails, messages, etc. Do not send in any type of CD, DVD, electronics. They will not accept it. Yes, some people send in "books", some people have sent a whole box of proof. It depends on your VO and how much relationship evidence they request.
6 Shouldn't be a problem.
7 There is no income requirement for spousal sponsorship BUT if for example you are currently unemployed they will inquire how you plan to support yourself and your wife so you don't end up on welfare.
8 You could leave Canada but since the PR card takes a few months to arrive in the mail, you might have a difficult time bringing her back in. As they would think she's just a visitor. Someone else will probably be able to give you a better answer on this one.
9 Since she lived there more than 6 months, yes she should get a background check for Korea.

For number 4, if your spouse is called for an interview it will only be her unless you are there with her in Japan. If you go with her to the interview the will most likely question you as well, but if not it will be only her there for the interview.

Thanks for your answer agarand8!
Would you happen to know how much notification they would give her for the interview? A week? Perhaps more?

Thanks again :)

Uhm it might be different for the different visa offices. In my AOR from Mexico it stated that if they want an interview they will pick the date and give 30 days notice. I thought that I heard before that others have been given contact information for their local embassy and they would call themselves to make the appointment. You should find the thread for whichever VO you are going through and ask in there. Someone should know.

I am applying in the near future.
I got married at city hall on May 17, 2014.
Can anyone advise how long it takes to get a marriage licence? Its already been four weeks and I went to order the certificate online and it mentioned 10 weeks. We really want to send in the application soon.

Hello Elena78, Are you referring to the marriage certificate? As far as I know you need the marriage licence to get married. As for the marriage certificate I would assume it would differ by province. In Ontario if you order it online it states: "Certificates are put in the mail within 15 business days (or you get your money back)."
Here's the link www ontario.ca/government/marriage-certificate
I would assume other provinces will differ but will have it on their website.

Maybe someone else can comment for other provinces.

Hello, Elena! Welcome :)

We got married in Quebec and ours took about 2 months to receive.

I'm excited,
Hopefully my husband and I will be sending in our application within the next two weeks!
I've been compiling and organizing and filling out forms since March!
I'm so ready for this to be DONE!

For evidence I have:

Tickets for both of us to and from Canada
Tickets of events in USA and in Canada
Letters written between the two of us
letters from my sponsored spouse's mother
letters from my parents in canada
Call reccords from when I'm in Canada to the USA
photos from throughout our relationship (around 50)
Wedding photos & reception picturres (Around 300)
Skype call log for calls 1+ hr = 10 pages of document text

and i've been living with him in USA for 10 years...
Shouldn't be an issue with evidence right?

Make sure you send the latest versions of ALL forms, because CIC has been known to return entire application packages because of a single, outdated form!

At least two forms have been updated since March (IMM0008 and IMM1344).

Hello all,
After much discussion my wife and I decided to use the inland application. My wife is currently in Japan while I in Ontario. We plan on starting the application when she gets to Canada. What is the best way for her to get to Canada? As in if she buys only a one way ticket will they let her in the country? If immigration officers ask how long she plans on staying in Canada would she be able to just say we plan on applying her immigration via inland family sponsorship?

Thanks

She can't just come in that way. Unfortunately if she doesn't show a return ticket and says shes planning to immigrate they could very well just deny her entry. My husband and I were going to do the same thing. IMMIGRATION says it is fine, however, CUSTOMS says absolutely not.
Outland is a far better option unless she has a student or work visa already.

Thanks AshleyAnne for your answer.
Is there any other way? Would it be possible to buy a refundable return ticket and as to extent her visitors visa once the application is sent in? I just don't want her to have to fly back and forth multiple times if we used the outland application.

Thanks
