I am in Quebec and my American partner is here on a long-term visit while we finish preparing the application. When he came on Feb. 2 they only gave him 3 months but we have an extenson now in process. We expect to hear back from that around end of June.

The major holdup we had was the FBI clearance. We finally got that and got the medical exams done. We are doing a (same-sex) conjugal partner application and we went to a legal aid clinic to get a friend's letter of support notarized.

The lawyer advised that he's not sure a conjugal application is the best idea since we're not from a country where homosexuals are persecuted but we're talking to another lawyer soon and we'll get another opinion. We'll likely be submitting very shortly if we don't decide that we have to get married first.

me and my wife are in montreal tooo :)

so hopw we can help eachpther with time line and keep in touch with update :)

thanx and have a good day

The Buffalo office usually takes from 5 to 10 months after they get your application, but sometimes it is longer. If they want to interview you, it will probably be in New York City. Quebec doesn't usually do interviews; they only do sponsorship approvals. If there is going to be an interview, the Buffalo office (or another office in the U.S.) will decide.

I think if they decide not to do an interview, they will next ask for your passport. Then you have to go out of the country and come back in to be an official PR. You can just drive over the border and immediately return. There is a way to do it at a passport office, but it is usually easier and faster to go to the U.S. and return to do it at the border unless you are far from the U.S. border.

Thank you a lot for ur quick response .

well as i know quebec will ask for interview if they need it and i ll pass it in a visa office here ( we do have it in montreal where i m livin actually ).

i m just gonna give you an idea i receive the AOR from mississauga then i applied for the CSQ ( certificate of acceptance of quebec ) and i got it too and my wife is approved to sponsor me then buffalo visa office receive my CSQ and start processing , they send a letter asking me to confirm my adress in case they will contact on januarry the another one after 1 month to ask about the adress and the activity during two times ).

from then i receive nothing i just can check on the cic website and see that my application is received in november and they received my medical exams :)

if you have any advice aor anything let me know please

and thanx again for your comprehension

It doesn't matter if you live right next door to a visa office in Quebec. If you are doing a spousal/partner application through the U.S. office in Buffalo, any interview if needed will be in the U.S. If you had filed an "inside Canada" application, then the interview might be in Quebec.

I don't think the Province of Quebec does interviews for this type of application, but if they did, they would have done it before the file went to Buffalo.

that help me a lot

thanx a lot for your response

the best luck for allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll of us :)
