Hi, if your study program requires a co-op/internship term/s, I don't think you'll need a separate work permit. Technically, you are allowed to work legally anywhere in the city under a study permit (but for only up to 20 hours a week for students). You can also talk to your university department to confirm if a work permit is required for international students. But having a study permit should be enough for you to look for employment as long as your co-op work doesn't go over 20 hours/week.

I'm not even sure if you're allowed to have both a study permit and work permit at the same time?

I think it's case-to-case basis.

Makes sense. Verify with your department though before you apply just to be sure and you don't waste any time, effort, and money if you don't have to. If you do need the permit, maybe you can apply for it later on right before your co-op term?

I think if there's an overpayment, they would refund the money. I believe they won't ask, if I don't need it.

I was asked anyway. IRCC sent me a request letter regarding the payment of work permit. I was confused at first because my agent didn't include that when we submit the application.

QUESTION:

Am I allowed to use the show money after getting the visa? Some are just borrowed from my friends that I need to return

Thanks for the replies.

roks is under regular stream po.

roks, did you get GIC as part of your POF?
Oh okay. He/she might still need proof of financial capacity when he enters the country though. That might be asked when he lands. So better not give back the money right away or make sure you have enough money and provide an updated proof of finances when they ask (but they probably won't). If you have a scholarship from the university, you can also show that as proof of funds even if you don't have enough cash in your account. :)

Not sure how VOs process applications in SG. I got the ball-park figure po from sample timelines in various thread. Published length of processing in SG is just about 42 days. Kaya nga lng po I noticed an uptrending in the number of days. This means, you may want to add 7 to 14 days on top of the published processing time for applications submitted in SG. Also, do note that processing starts when complete application, supporting documents, medical results and biometrics have been received by IRCC.

For Philippine Regular Stream applicants, there has been a downtrend from 42 days, now it's just 28 days for some. This downtrend was observed two weeks ago. However, approved applicants' total processing number of days averages to 35.

Hope our application will approved the soonest. God bless us all!! :)

What are the possibility of approval?
