Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

@tipsy: the important thing is what will be written on your Study Permit when you arrive in Canada. As long as it says you can engage in work, you can go ahead and get your SIN. Almost always Study Permit lang tinitignan in Canada since TRV is only used for re-entry at the airport.

If it says you cannot engage in work, you'll have to request for a Confirmation of Enrolment from your school and make a Case Specific Enquiry to request the CIC Confirmation Letter to get a SIN. It's pretty easy, tagal lang magrespond ng CIC. Inabot ako almost 2 months to get that letter.

How did u receive the status of your application? VFS ba ang nagbigay ng status sayo or embassy mismo?

Hi, I received my application status from the embassy first, then VFS informed me about it by the next business day.

Hi ms. Tipsy, sa akin sw1 nakalagay sa visa ko and walang co op rpgram ko and nakalagay sa LOA ko is work is not required for my studies. pero ang alam ko kasi babase sila sa LOI mo kung ano ibbgay or condition ng permit.

I just got an email from VFS na andun na daw passport namin for pick-up sa VFS office.
Im quite sure denied appli namin. Kasi, ngayon lang naforward ng st lukes ang result ng medical exam namin tapos ngayon din andun na passport namin sa VFS? So anong ibig sabihin nun? E diba malamang denied un. Kasi hindi naman nila i-aapprove appli namin w/o waiting for the result of our med exams.
Bukas pa namin ng 3-4pm makukuha yng passport namin sa VFS, malamang andun din reason for refusal.

I thought under the new rule last Jun 2014, study permits will automatically authorize the holder to work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time during scheduled breaks without the need to apply for a separate work permit.

Kelangan ko pa naman ng SIN for opening bank and getting post-paid mobile.

Walang co-op, i opted not to get courses with co-op wala naman daw kcng bayad ung iba...

When I applied online I did not choose if I require to work. Hopefully ok lang yun para maka-apply nako ng SIN though wala nman akong balak magwork kagad. Mag-open lang ng bank at mag post paid sim.

oh, sorry to hear. Mukhang ganun nga, pero malay mo hindi. Balitaan mo kami. If ever na-deny ka, baka you can still do something about it.

Don't give up just yet. Kapag malaman mo na yung reason for refusal, make up for it and then re-apply. Lahat naman ay nagagawan ng paraan di ba?

In case na madeny ako, di ako susuko kaagad. Gagawin ko lahat hanggang makuha ko yung SP.

Hi AAM, I find it unfair that they made you go through all the hassles of satisfying the medical request only to find out that your passports were already returned prior to viewing your med results. It seems that you applied with your family so that makes the cost more significant. Parang ang daya naman na pinagastos ka agad sa medical and then suddenly, nagbago isip nila about your application... I'm still hoping that it was just a mistake and they're still processing your application... Parang kinakabahan na din tuloy ako... Wish us luck guys!

Sabi naman din ng mga andito sa forum na hindi guarantee ang med request na approve na appli e.
Sana lang, naisip ng CEM na wag muna ipa med exam mga applicants kung sa tingin nila hindi qualified diba. Kasi di naman biro gastos ng medical e. Lalo sa case namin, 3 kami. Hay... Nakakasad lang..

yes I agree, pero need kasi ng MR bago mareview ng CEM yung application. hassle din kasi sa part nila kung irereview nila yung application bago yung MR, paano kung di maganda yung resulta odi sayang lang effort nila hehe

wag ka po sumuko, re apply lang ng re apply lalo na't may medicals na kayo. may mga iba nga po ilang beses na nag re apply tapos on their third app na approved na yung visa. basta po pag mag re apply kayo triple check niyo yung mga papeles bago mag submit

^^ unfortunately ganun talaga, nothing is a guarantee unless you get the approval mail. Merong isa din nakakuha ng med request, swerte lang siya na her passport was returned before she did her medicals.

AAM1218, at least your medicals are valid for one year. Kung nga na-deny ka, you can still use your med results in your next application. Let us know lang kung ano ang reason bakit, usually lahat ng reasons naman may solution dyan, don't give up hope.
