Sir humdrumdum, thank you so much for your advice! I will look into available short courses, tama, it does make sense to get a short course, then go on to a polytechnic college afterwards. Double check ko lang, are short courses yung mga 6 months-1 year courses tama po ba? May mga nakita ako sa NAIT na mga courses na 1 year eh, they call it diploma courses, not sure if those are considered "short courses".humdrumdum said:Hi cocoagirl, I think in my opinion it would be best if he takes up a short-course before applying to a school in Canada. It is a requirement for colleges and universities that international students have at least 12 years of formal education, which is why nirerequire nila ang mga applicants from the Philippines to have at least 2 years of college education (since wala pang K-12 noon). Also, CEM will check if your educational background is relevant to the course you're applying.
If his purpose is to have a degree from Canada and work there afterwards, then I would suggest that he enroll in a polytechnic and not a college. It's midway to a university and a college in Canada, and most people easily find jobs after earning their diploma because of the hands-on knowledge they acquire. If you're looking into Vancouver, I would suggest BCIT and Kwantlen Polytechnic, although sabi daw mas madali pumasok sa Langara College and the tuition is cheaper. As for Alberta, instead of NAIT, SAIT is more reputable
I really do hope for the best for your family. Galing po sa similar situation ang parents ko so somehow I can relate po. You guys deserve a break
