Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Thanks Floje and scorpio1641, I'm trying to extend my study permit kaso may dagdag pang hassle for me: I had to renew my passport in March at ang sabi samin dito sa Philippine Consulate in Vancouver na 10 weeks ang processing. OA ang tagal, my sister applied for hers last year in Ottawa, and it was mailed back to her in 2 weeks. Hopefully my timeline will work out since I can't apply for a SP Extension without my new passport ??? Sobrang sagad ako in terms of deadlines, sana makuha ko yung PGWP awa ng Diyos haha

I'll be heading to Toronto at the end of this month for a short trip, sana maganda na weather sa East Coast

Ok lng yan Floje, ok yung overall mo, at importante wla rin lower than 6, dpende na din sa requirements ng skul.

Thanks Babies! Yup, mababa lang requirements ng school, 6 overall lang with no band less than 5.5. What I'm worried about is baka mababa lang siya sa tingin ng mga VO. :-X

Hello humdrumdum! Naku! Ang tagal naman ng processing. Dun ka na lang magparenew sa Ottawa. Kumusta pala student life dyan? Nakakuha ka ba kaagad ng part time job?

@Floje: Kung malapit lang sana sakin ang Ottawa, dun na lang ako ) My sister lived there for a year kaya it was reasonable for her to do it there. Hopefully makuha ko na siya next month huhu priority ko lang is to lodge an application before June 30th, since by principle, I will have implied status as a student as long as a decision hasn't been made on my application.

Student life really depends on the type of school you enroll in. Our school, BCIT, is notorious for its heavy work load haha It's not so much on the difficulty of the subjects, but taking 6-8 classes per sem is really tough hahaha I've had a 40-unit semester :'(

I don't have much experience on part-time jobs since I wasn't able to get my letter to work off-campus until last year. Since dumating ako dito bago inapply yung policy na yun, my study permit still said na I'm not allowed to work unless I have a work permit. Although, I do volunteer for our student association and get a small honorarium, plus our course has a directed studies program that allows us to work with a company 6 hrs a week on a given project.

Kasi ang laki ng backlog ng passport renewal ngayon dito sa Pinas. It's because their machines broke down. Kaya they do not have express one week processing anymore. I renewed my passport last year, umabot ng five weeks, dito pa yan ha.

finally, got my passport. They cancel my visitor visa which is valid until 19 Sept and placed a student visa which is valid only until 31 July....

pero ok lang atleast makakauwi nko ng pinas this month then pagbalik nako magprepare for my travel, Aug nako ppunta...

Hi Ms. Tipsy, medyo nalito lang po ako...Valid until July 31 yung new visa ninyo pero August kayo pupunta Canada? So useless po ba mag -apply ng schedule one since cancel din nila? Atsaka, may restrictions po ba nakalagay sa new visa ninyo?

Sa mga nagpassport request na po, paano po pinapadala ang passport (I'm just thinking ahead here )? Via FEDEX?

Thanks humdrumdum for sharing your story. 2013 ka pa pala dyan sa Canada, iba pa pala yung policy regarding work permits for international students at that time. Anywa, sana makuha mo yung new passport mo at the right time. Gaya ng sabi ni scorpio, wala nang express processing for passport renewals unlike before. I got my passport renewed din pala last week of January tapos nakuha ko mga 2nd week of March na yata.

pag mag aapply ba ako ng scholarship ma aaffect po ba yung pagging full time status ko?

I believe scholarships are treated as student awards dto. At andami kong klala na international students na nakakuha ng awards. But ask mo lng bvc para sure

Guys, tanong ko lang. Yung Letter of Admission ko kase may condition pero na comply ko na. Pwede kaya humingi ng acknowledgment or something like that from the school that would say I already met the conditional requirement for admission para i-attach ko na din sa visa application ko?

Floje, pass mo na yung IELTS result mo and ask for a new LoA without conditions na. Tutal may time ka pa naman before magfile ng application mo.

What I meant, July 31, 2017 na ang validity ng visa ko...before kasi upon expiration ng passport ko..umikli ang visa ko nung napalitan ng student visa yung visit visa ko due to 90 days validity ng school period. Mabuti nlng at nilagay ko Apr 30...kasi sa LOA Apr 2017 lang nakalagay...hehehe...

Tapos yung bank statement nman d din notarized, may stamp naman ang bank kung saka sakaling kukuha ka sa bank mo...

Yep paid 1st term tuition before I applied. It's not a requirement for the SP, actually but siempre you want to show that you really intend to study
