Just checked Ecas... finally shows that medical results have been received!

I know what a relief I felt when I saw that! I thought the medical results had been lost since most people seemed to have those results pop up even before they had notice that their app was received in SD.

Exactly!! I doubt it means anything, but it's a relief just to see some kind of update!

I called the Canadian Embassy in SD this morning, to ask about this. The lady I spoke to was very nice and said as of now, the applications that were sent to SD, will remain in SD, and all the newer applications are being sent to Mexico. They will process the PR applications that they have, but from now on, everything else will go to Mexico. She also said that they don't plan to send the older applications to Mexico. And she was able to confirm that mine was still in SD, received March 13, 2015.

I feel much better knowing exactly where ours is. Hopefully they pick up their pace and get through all the remaining PR applications they have!!

I'm still waiting for SA, but I'm already panicked about the Mexico stuff. Its quite difficult to fathom that this process is likely to take long given the Santo Domingo's office has 14 months waiting and Mexico has 18 months. I basically had to change my thinking and assume that my husband won't be here until like next year this time or later...I know not very optimistic...sigh...

Phew! That is a relief to know! If yours is in SD then my app will definitely be there. This process is certainly stressful! But thank you for the info SB414. I hope you are enjoying your time in DR!

If it makes you feel any better, I've been following the Mexico group and normal processing times seems to take from 6-9 months. but it is frustrating none the less.

Hopefully all the files being sent to Mexico will have a quicker processing time than what is posted. This whole process is hard enough, and now for the VO to change is stressful. We are all freaking out over this change, but who knows.. maybe Mexico will help speed up Dominican applications. Trying to think positive!!

It sucks to be here in DR, knowing that it's another trip home that I have to make without my husband! But on the bright side, I guess it means I get to come back here again, hopefully soon, to bring him home with me!!

He actually had no idea I was coming this time! I decided last minute to come, and surprised him!

Awww that was sweet of you to surprise your husband! And I know how you feel! I'm leaving in two weeks to go down and a few months ago me and my husband were sure he would be coming back to Toronto with me on this trip. It's going to be very hard this time to leave without him! I'm getting used to waiting now, I think I'll fall off my chair the day I check my ecas and it says 'In Process' or 'Decision Made'

I'm jealous you guys... Well of those going or currently gone. I find thing easier when there's a date to work towards. Sadly given both my work schedule and my husband work schedule (no vacation till the fall) we have no immediate dates put in place. It's probably likely we will wait till the fall so we can both be on vacation days and enjoy our time together. I'm glad everyone is getting to see their loves ones... Hooray for ya'lol!

my husband was soooo shocked! I had one of his friends pick me up at the airport and drive me to his work.. when I opened the door, he had to do a double take!! I was there in February and we decided that the next time I plan to go down, would be when he was going to come back with me. But now realizing how slow this process is, there is no way I could wait! And now I have no idea when I will get to come back and visit. He lives in Santo Domingo and sadly, from Toronto there is no direct flight so it is a pain in the butt to get there!!!

Are the only flights to SD through the U.S.? Is here anything directly into Canada? If not your husband may need a U.S. Visitor visa to be able to have a layover in the U.S. How does that even work?! Or would you have him drive to puerto plata or la romana to get a direct flight from there?

yup, the flights to Santo Domingo are from the U.S, and only from a handful of places! New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, occasionally Miami!
I have looked into it and he will have to fly to Canada direct from Puerta Plata or Punta Cana or La Romana. Another pain in the butt!!!

Flight with west jet from Punta Cana go through Toronto and then connect to wherever else in Canada. Personally I fly with them and love it. Grant it I do have a 2 hour drive to Punta Cana but flying with west jet has been great! Sometimes on the return you have to rush through immigration to make connecting flights though. I've been okay with connections to both Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. However, if you are connecting to Calgary the connecting flight is really tight in time... Not sure where ya'll need to fly to.... Where are most folks from on here anyways? I'm in the northwestern ontario region.
