Hello Everyone,

i must say i am a little bit nervous, so just saw this morning that they updated the status of my app.

they started processing my case on april 9th, and now says ¨decision made¨... We sent you a letter on April 21, 2014 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

has anyone had the same status?? .... how they usually say when first stage is approved?

There's a high possibility that they did send you an e-mail with the decision.
Did you check your junkmail? The reason I say this is because my Ecas said this:

2.We sent you a letter on August 7, 2014 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

So I think it says they send a "letter" whether they e-mail you or send you an actual letter.
I would give the Call Centre a call now because I've heard that they've been known to confirm SA over the phone.

Ok, that is strange. I am 99.9% sure that only the sponsor is supposed to get the e-mail of SA approval. I would call the call centre immediately to try and sort out the "Mexico" situation!

Ok- that makes sense that he got the e-mail. He will have to call the Call Centre and ask.
Did the letter say what day the application was sent to Mexico?

If the application is in transit you might have to wait! I really hope that was just a type-o and they are actually sending it to Dominican Republic.

No where in the forms anywhere do the ask the visa office you will be processed at. They choose they visa office based on citizenship and residence. Dominicans are only processed in Dominican! Maybe if you get through to the call centre today, they will be able to intercept before the application is actually mailed to Mexico.

If it does in fact go to Mexico, the problem will be rectified! So don't fear about that. The issue is that it will delay the process through no fault of your own, which is just beyond frustrating!

Let us know if you get through to the call centre and they're able to help you!

she said is because SD is too busy... and sometime they sent the applications to others embassy for our advantage. ...so i dont know .. i´ll try to call again and see if somebody tell me something else

I don't understand why they would send it to Mexico even if SD is backed up. Mexico has a processing time of 18 months, that's crazy!

FYI -- there is a note on SDVO website that Mexico is processing some apps now, but spousal sponsorship is not one of them, (although parental sponsorship is being processed in Mexico!) Maybe they sent yours by accident or maybe they are really backed up, which explains a lot! Now I'm worried that mine may be in Mexico! I hope everything works out for you and you are processed quickly.

Just a note: When I did my app, I had the option of choosing my vo, but they updated the form in November 2014 (I believe) and they took that option to choose your vo away. Maybe they decided to send yours to Mexico (even though you chose SD, because your app was sent in after the update to the forms.

Another note: Upon further investigation, the Mexico vo website says this: As of September 1, 2014, the Mexico City visa office processes permanent resident applications from Havana and Santo Domingo.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/mexico.asp

and the SDVO says this: As of September 1 2014, the Mexico City visa office will process applications for Self-employed, Start-up visa, Quebec-selected skilled worker and PNP and sponsorship of parents and grandparents.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/santo-domingo.asp

Conflicting information here. Should I be worried? I'm an October applicant, but my AOR said my application was being sent to the VO in Santo Domingo! I think I will order notes now!

I feel like Mexico is not the place to help speed it up. The average on Mexican processing times tends to be longer than Santo Domingo. Not to mention, Mexico is already the processing centre for a few South American countries!

Maybe it is like someone else said that they mixed it up with parental sponsorship. I hope they get this sorted soon for you and it actually does end up going faster for you!

Did you receive an AOR2 from SD? If you did, I don't think you should worry!

I think this Mexico dilemma is anxiety provoking for all of us still in the works. I realize I don't have SA yet, but it worries me to think that our application could end up in Mexico. I pray that that is not the case for you or any of us. Especially since my understanding was that spousal sponsorships were still in Santo Domingo. nreilly, when did you officially start the process? I just asked because I do not see any time line under your user name. I wish you guys well. Hopefully it was just a clerical error and you will receive notice that it arrived in Santo Domingo and NOT Mexico
