Hey guys i'm confused about something,I need your help,when you submit your application my documents from dr need to be translated and certificated? Or only translated like my birth certificate Etc...

translated and certified/legalized! Where in Canada are you/your spouse? And are you the sponsor or PA? I'm guessing you're the PA!

My wife is the sponsor,she lives in mississauga,she call to the dominican consulate in toronto and they told her she only need to translated those documents,I just want to know if that's true

they need to be translated into English and certifies/legalized.. with all the fancy stamps and stickers. It can be done in Canada.. I'm not sure how much it is here, maybe someone else has the answer? My husband had his translated and legalized in Santo Domingo.

The documents you required translated are the criminal record check, your Dominican birth certificate and your wedding certificate. You can get them translated at the Dominican Consulate in Toronto for $40US Dollars for each item being translated. So for all 3 items it would be $120US. You can call the consulate in Toronto to confirm this. It was fairly easy process. I brought back the papers with me and then mailed them to the consulate in Toronto from where I live. They will mail it back as long as you send a prepaid envelope with the paperwork. We did our in February so I can't imagine much has changed since.

Technically those documents are already legalized because they have been processed in Dominican Republic with both validation bar codes and stamps. I know that we received ours from the office in San Pedro de Macoris and then had to travel to Santo Domingo to have the legalized in order for the consulate to translate them. Atleast this is what was explained to us. I just sent the paperwork we received in Dominican as is and Canada DR consulate just translated no problem.

I think it was about 1000 pesos for each document. Are you in Santo Domingo? If you are planning to get everything translated in DR, I can give you the name of who we used.

We translated birth cert, marriage cert, and police check using a lawyer in Puerto Plata. It was 800 pesos per document. That was in 2012. I'm not sure if the price has changed. I still have his card if u want the info.

I think with everything going on in Mexico, toronto is the best bet! Mexico seems to be by the book and is not hesitating to ask for documents to be resubmitted! It happens to my friend and her PCC a few weeks ago! And I had to redo the medicsl

Just a thought! I always wondered why the Dominican Consulate in Toronto makes you pay in US? After all they are the counsel to Canada, so it just seems wrong to me! It is a hassle to have to go to the bank to exchange the funds when they could just charge us the US rate in Canadian dollars! Just my two cents and rant if the day!
