thanks for the update LaLa320!!!
It is comforting knowing that they are trying to get things done in a timely fashion.

Since my husband received that email from Mexico, it has been a bit easier. It is really nice to know where it is and what is going on with the VO's!!

Let's keep our fingers crossed, the next month or two should be lucky!!

Thank you so much for this updated LaLa we got SA on April 18 and still haven't heard anything from Mexico that our app is there , I don't know if I should be worry.

well hopefully we all get processed at the same time and our hubby's are here before the summer is over. That would be lovely. So we were in Santo Domingo last week and we actually got to speak with a real live visa officer (granted we waited for like 2 hours at security and we met her by a streak of luck) she was so lovely! She told us they are dealing with a back log as far back as one year (complicated cases) and they are lso deaing with a lot of corruption coming out of the place where people go to do their medical! Apparently, they were stealing money and charging a higher fee! (I'm not surprised) so they are currently sorting that out too, she said they also reassigned most of their vo's to new locations and they are severely understaffed in SD, she said the embassy is all but shut down! She said Mexico will honour their (SD) processing time of all applications handed in before the switch and our applications should be dealt with quickly! That's all she said! When I asked her why Mexico, because they have lot of corruption there too, she said it was the fastest option and the approval rate is high! Oh I also asked about interviews and she said that if one is needed then they will still conduct them at the embassy in Santo Domingo or if not there than an alternate location such as a VAC (Visa Application Centre). I hope this eases everybody's mind! I didn't get the sense she was bulls hitting me! She seemed really genuine and seemed to take time to explain every question we asked and we had a lot!

WOW thanks for the info. Does anyone know if Mexico is any faster than expected?? My friend wants to know. She applied in November and quite eager and anxious to know. I read her this info and she wanted me to ask. Thoughts anyone ?

Nreilly... I'm in the same boat. We received SA but still no confirmation that it's ACTUALLY in Mexico. I'm assuming it will be a few month before we here anything.

So I officially received Sponsor Approval. It was really strange though cause the ECAS said Decision made and that they mailed me letter on May 14th (letter has yet to arrive. Today, however I received an email saying I was approved to sponsor my husband. Hooray. AND its official...our package is going to Mexico. Hopefully things don't take forever. I'm okay with 8-10 months, but a year seems painful... I guess we will see.

Did you ever receive the letter in the mail? If so, how long did it take?
On June 4th my ecas changed to decision made and that a letter was on its way. Now i'm all nervous and patiently waiting to hear something. Hopefully it's all good news.

from what I have read, people are receiving emails up to a week after Ecas updates to decision made and a letter has been mailed out. you should be getting yours any day now!

No apparently the email I received IS "the letter in the mail". So my status said it was mailed may 14th and I received an email on May 21 with an attachment PDF in letter form dated may 21. I'm sure it will be here anytime now .... Maybe Thursday? That would be the same amount of days as ours.

Yes! I saw took almost a year for the whole process though.. Hope everyone else get it faster than that.

@2worlds1love- Thanks for letting me know.

I spoke too soon. Just got the SA approval letter!!!!!

Also someone had posted a link on the Mexico conversation here in the forum which I found very interesting and thought it could shed some light on the whole Mexico situation. You'll be happy to know that approval rate for Mexico is 89% and SD was 80%. Hey 9% improvement is good enough for me.

Thanks everyone.

opps it was 83% for SD. ;)
