Hi Mona,

You can find the October applicants' topic in family class sponsorship section.

and excel too:

Thank you very much Delusive1. y husband has just submitted a GCMS note and hopefully it gives us more info than the status declared on ecas and mycic. All the best for you too.

Hi Mona,

I am sponsoring my husband from Iran. His background check went to "in progress" in myCIC since 24 Oct 2016. We are still waiting after 4 months. Hope yours will be shorter. But in general security check may take most of the processing time and it seems it is harder for the male applicants.

Hi strength2,

Yeah it's quite long! Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you hear some good new soon. I don't know exactly when it did turn into In progress because I was late in linking the paper application with mycic account. I have worked one year in Canada and had a trip to US for 3 weeks. I guess they will make security check even longer.

im October as well and I am waiting impatiently just like you

Thank you for sharing. I hope we all hear some good news soon.

I was looking again at the gcms notes I received from January, and their is code 15(1), and 19(1). Based on forum explanation about notes, it indicates that security pass. So what are they waiting for. Or may be I am wrong?
It's just too much. I hope that we don't have to wait for everyone pass who applied in 2017, just because they have to meet 12 months deadline. That would be totally unfair.

were clearly not waiting for everyone because some have gotten their approval in a matter of 3 months of applying. I know its hard I can't function my self as I keep thinking of the visa

I only see s.15(1) on the right top side of some of the pages. page 24 and 25 out of 40 is ACTIVITY for me. It also has s.15(1) on the top right corner. Activity 2 is security which is blank. What does it show for you?

Where do you have 19(1)?

Based on what other people are saying, S.15(1) means you passed the security. Hmm there must be something else in your notes that hints why they're taking so long after the interview. Does it show that your husband passed all the stages? Eligibility, Medical and Criminality? Also, what are the final comments at the end of notes? Is there any suggestions by the officer? There has to be something.

I should be receiving my new sets of notes next week, hopefully there will be something useful!

I have S.15(1) on top of couple of pages but I don't think my security is passed because it is blank in front of security itself.

Found on the forum: "Security usually will not show on the GCMS. It will be either blackened out or deleted or like yours, not started. They don't disclose the security status for "security" reasons."

Also, found an example of GCMS notes explanation dated Oct.1, 2016, have a look:

Dear Mona,
I am an Iranian applicant and since 22 Dec my background check went into progress. I lives one year in Canada too and I was told that makes my process very smoothly. Now I can see it may have negative effect on our time line!! comparing to those have never lived in Canada :(( Just I am wondering whether you provide a police certificate form Canada in your documents and also my police certificate from Iran is about to pass 6 months!!

Hi there!

No, I haven't included any police certificate from Canada. It was written in the application guide that police certificates are needed for any country except Canada where the applicant has lived for at least 6 months. It said they will ask for it if required and it can be done online. Yes, my police certificate in Iran is already passed the 6 months validity period, but they haven't requested any document from us.

We can only be patient and hope for the best. I think it depends on the individual officers, so we can't easily compare the cases with each other. Best of luck!

Yeah, no way just waiting!! :(
I wish the best for all!!

I suggest you both request GCMS notes at this stage. It takes a month to get them from the day you order.

19(1) i have on the top right corner with activity 29.

myCIC showed background check in progress 24 Oct. GCMS notes show criminality passed 25 Oct but it doesn't show any update or due date for security.
