Hi guys!

The spreadsheet is always helpful to give us some indication about the process. If you look at Brunette case too, they asked for fees and then continued processing....nobody waits for 40 days to send payments, people usually send it asap...so I would think it does not take much time and you would not be that far for ppt request!

Hi all, time is coming for all August and September apps :D , one thing about the security check is that if you are sponsoring a male , then it usually takes longer than females, if any have traveled before it takes a bit longer too since they have to get in touch with those countries. ANYONE GOT PPR??? IT'S JAN 2014 the number of visa's issued has been reset lol

Me too! I hope it's us!!!!

You're right that the time line is a good indicator of information but we must also remember there are so any people who apply and do not use this forum! I know a lot of people who don't pay their roprf until after they are approved for a visa. May lawyer says it does not make a
Difference when you pay it!

Especially for those people who may be rejected due to red flags because that 490.00 is non refundable...

Paying Right of Permanent Residence fee in advance makes a difference.

Here is the info from CIC web site about it: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#pay-fee
"We strongly recommend paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee along with your processing fees. By doing so, it will reduce the processing time of your application."

Also it's refundable.

Good to know it is refundable! I heard it was not... must be just the other fees. Not that I need to worry about a refund...

Also, I did not say that paying ahead of time didn't cause delays, I know it does. Just to be clear. I don't want people reading my posts to think that I, in anyway, said that paying when they request ROPRF does not slow down the process. I am aware it does.

Have a good night ;)

Hello Everyone I am new to the forum! Thank God I found people in the same shoes I am in. A quick breif on my issues if anyone can help that would be great.
I am canadian citizen sponsoring my wife who is in Turkey, Turkish Citizen.
I have paid all dues and everything in my file has been done. Done all the background medical checks and everything before I started the application and sent everything within my file. As far as i know.

I already got a file number and a UCI number from CIC.
The file now is in Ankara and they have confirmed by this statement via email.

"Applications are processed according to their lock-in dates. This file's lock-in date is: 2013/10/02. We will advise as soon as all the statutory requirements have been met. "

What does lock in date mean? And when should I expect my wife to get her visa to come??

Anyone with any information that can be shared please let me know!
Thank You

Hi The Blue Guy. I hope some one else here will be of better assistance to you; I have not heard of such an email being sent by Ankara before. Did you send a case specific inquiry or email to the visa office asking about the file? To take a wild guess I am assuming the "lock-in" date could be the day when your wife's application was received in Ankara. Her file then sits in queue waiting to be reviewed (a bit like first come, first serve).

You may wish to look at the timeline spreadsheet for spousal immigration in the Ankara VO here: http://goo.gl/WBjGFi
It's based off users from this forum and it should give you a rough idea of what to expect. As you can see they are now working on files where sponsorship was approved in May/June and some in early July.

All the best, good luck!

Welcome The Blue Guy!

I found this info. for you so hopefully it will help you and others. You will see that there is different explanation for different situation. Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op01-eng.pdf, on page 18 they are talking about the lock-in date!!!

SooMazi, you are right about the wild guess!!! ;)

Thank you SooMazi, and Turkey 2013..
When would you guys think that my wife will be here by? Which month?

Is there any way to actually find out more on the status of the file? If they have even looked at it? Or when to expect it to be completed by?

Is there a process to expedite a file?

Sorry for all the newb questions

Don't worry about asking questions, that is the purpose of this forum, just make sure that whenever you ask a question, people that give you answers have links or proper experience on giving you advice ;))).

To answer your question, wish I had an answer or a crystal ball of your reunion with your wife...it all depends of your case, some members had a 6 month waiting period and others up to 18 months...you just need to be a little patient, easier said than done !!!

As per your file, there is the gcms notes that you can order, it cost 5$ and here is an excellent link for you to follow and to know how:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo

it takes 30 days to receive it by email. Usually these notes can be ordered after you receive your AOR acknowledgment letter, you can verifiy if ALL the information that they have is EXACT and to see what they have been working on. Since your file has been there since october 2nd, maybe you won't find much but at least you will know what has been done and get use to the abbreviations....You can order them every month or every two months as you wish, it won't affect the apps negatively or positively. If you need help on understanding them I will try to help!

Good luck and don't forget to be patient and we are all here to help eachother on this journey!

I agree with what Turkey2013 has said. According to the information provided by CIC http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp , 80% of applications for spousal/common law/conjugal sponsorship at the Ankara visa office are processed within 15 months. As everyone's situation is different this time frame can be a lot shorter, or in some cases longer.

You can always check the status of your file online using the Ecas system. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp
However, this system is only as reliable as the visa officer who updates it - some people never see any updated information during the duration of the process (going direct from application received to decision made). I agree that in the meantime (and once in process) you can order GCMS notes.

Unfortunately there is no real way to expedite a file. There are ways though that the process can go slower, for example if you didn't include all documents as required in the checklist, didn't add sufficient proofs and didn't fill out the forms accordingly - that can slow the process down.

Hang in there!

Thank You Again for all your feedback. I have checked the website and in the first section under "sponsorship application status" it states "Decision Made" and under " permanent residence application status" it says " Application Received".
So is it just a waiting game now?

1.Is it too early to request for the GCMS notes now? Or probably they havent event looked at my file yet?

2.Are there any who is in the same time frame as me?

3. If my wife has moved homes do we have to contact someone and inform them of the address change?
If so what are the steps to do this? Or is it just a simple Email and tell them the new address?

Thank You

Yes it is a waiting game!

To answer your questions:
1) Only you can answer this question, it is only 5$...since you have a change of address for your wife, I would suggest you do the change and in about 3-4 weeks later order them, at least you will see the address changed and other information about you and your wife.

2) I am sure there is or there will be. Look at the spreadsheet for Ankara, http://goo.gl/WBjGFi

3) Any information that changes about your apps, especially your address you should contact the Visa Office, which in your case is the Ankara office in Turkey. Here is the link you can verify the info.: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp#outside
