Hahaha, I've ordered quite a few but all of them were identical: no activity. I haven't received the most recent one yet. last one is from mid-December.

Ours is Paris. Strange!

I ordered a second set last evening. If there is still no activity, I'll seriously wonder where the visa officer wrote her concerns down!

parent sponsor ship processing time

Hi can any one help me by giving information on how long it will take to get the visa issued after the medical exam is done.?
i sponsor my mother in june 2007 and i received her medical on september2012.ii paid the landed fee immidiatly as it was requested in the letter and the doctor sent the result of medical exam on september16/2012.ever since i have not recieved any news update regarding her application.it is almost 5 month past but no new about her visa.could you please advise me on how long it will take for the visa being issued after medical examination.

Hi Katia,

Most people here are sponsoring their partners. I don't know much about parents cases except for what I've read.

For sponsoring parents, you can look at the timelines here:

Unfortunately, the processing time is really long (50 months) but this is for 80 percent of the cases, and yours might finish much sooner.

Hey Everyone, My first post!

Canadian Citizen married to Iranian wife. We are both travelling together, Malaysia now, and slowly but surely running out of credit and cash. I am sure i am not alone here.

-We went to "In Process" on Sept 11, 2013.
-Received request & submitted another chest x-ray (expired) to Paris on about Feb 1, 2013. Still no word back about that.
-Based on the spread sheets posted here, it seems that people who went to "In Process" mid August 2012 are starting to get their pasport requests. This has us thinking that ours may be right around the corner.

Also, the CIC, (who amazingly emailed us a number of times, actually talking with a doctor here (MY) about our file and where to send the new x-rays) said something along these lines "...once we receive the new x-ray and finish the security check we can finalize your case". This is good right? It sure sounds good.

Which begs the question: How long does it take once the passport is sent to Ankara for us to get it back? We are travelling and not having a passport for about a month is ok but any longer than that and it might be a problem.

Regardless, life is starting to look a little brighter. Like so many of you out there, i know what it is like to not have the freedom to go home. I refuse to let anyone dictate weather or not i can be with my wife. Keep on trucking and try to stay happy. I know when we finally land in Canada, we will be so over stimulated from travels and checking the CIC website every day that we will probably die of boredom. ha!

I think it takes about 3 to 9 months. Your mother has to land in Canada before her medical expires, hopefully you will get the good news soon. please let us know when you get the passport request.

Hi Szymiec,

Welcome! When did you apply? Hearing about a medical extension is definitely good news, as based on CIC's own bulletin, they will do it when medical are the only outstanding item. So I'd say all is going good for you guys.

As for the passport, if your wife carries an Iranian passport, I've heard there are some implications regarding mailing it. I'd suggest you check out the "Damascus" thread, almost all users are Iranians there whose files are going through Ankara.

Thank you for the information. Our application was received on 13 March 2012. Things seem to be going well and like everyone, are waiting for the next email from Ankara.

Does anyone know the usual time trame for a police records check to go through? Wifey has travelled to a few countries so I assume hers will take a little while longer than someone who has never travelled. Or is this the case? I see a few people who applied before us have already gotten their PPR and based on the spread sheet data and the chart estimates stats file, i figured we will need to wait about another [62.5 - 117.5] days. Yes, i was bored yesterday.

As far as I've observed, Iranian applicants have a longer waiting period for background and security checks. 2-3months after ecas changing to "In process" and up.

For non Iranian applicants it's a bit different in Ankara. We changed to In Process just last week, but they have already asked for our medical extension which means we are done with the rest.

I hope you get your PPR any day now. Are your wife's medicals still valid?
