If the current backlog is 380,000 and if there is a cap of 20,000 new visas, the number - 265,000 visas per year - means 245,000 visas per year from the old backlog.

So, even if 245,000 out of 380,000 applications get the visa (which is a very optimistic number), it will take a year at max!

CIC has now has a second inventory that stands at 129,000 applications as of December 2009.

So, the actual number of pending applications as of now could be anywhere near 600,000 + ~200,000 (taking into account new frantic applications since Dec 2009) = 800,000 :(

As, now onward,the top priority of CIC will be to cleared the old applicants backlog, pending since 2004. Hopefully( within month or so), some of the applicants may get the medical request and others may receive the request for UL. So, I think we should remain in touch with latest information and updates.
 
@Rajan01- I know like us our application is back from june 2005, and still there is nothing came except for the letter from the embassy asking us if we wish to continue our application or refund our application fee, we decide to continue the application, now on August this year, I am applying my husband and my kid for PR under LCP, still no updates from our FSW application, well, may be my application from here hopefully will be faster!
 
Hi Rosellyalung... the CIC asked for for updates January of last year. I sent the updated documents they asked to be updated. We did not apply through an immigrant specialist agency, we applied directly to the Canadian embassy and simply submitted all their required documents. Wish you all the best!

One thing is not clear that why Islamabad dont process cases in order. Like I am the applicant of sept 2004 and on trackers many dec 2004 cases already received their medicals?? can anyone explain???????????
