Thank you Hina. Thank all of you (rathika, gsize, hhassa and more) who share your experiences with us "newbies". You make the process much clearer for us. It really helps!

If there is one silver lining to the injustice carried out by our visa officers it is that it has brought many good people together :)

Hi Hina123,

Did you receive the medical form from the visa office to do the medical or did you use the one that is provided by the hospital. Thanks

Hi Friends,

My lawyer just emailed me saying starting November 2014, there is a new rule of inadmissibility. Instead of 2 years of ban, they have extended to 5 years of ban. Is this true? :'(

How much does it cost to appeal by myself ?

If CIC determines that you committed misrepresentation (lied about a material fact in your application) - this bans you from Canada for 5 years. The ban used to be 2 years but was increased last year.

Good!

And in the appeal process ... if you lie in court does t carry the charge of perjury?

appeal doesn't necessarily cost anything unless you plan to hire either a consultant or a lawyer. You don't have to hire anyone, there are a few members here who have done it themselves and even won! However it is a very very difficult process and you have to know what you are doing, or get LOTS of help from here! It is highly recommended to hire a professional to help you, especially if you're case is a tough one to prove. An immigration consultant can cost $3000-$5000 for the whole thing and a lawyer anywhere from $5000-$8000. A consultant can help you to prepare your case, but cannot speak for you in the hearing or to the judge whereas a lawyer can just like in any other court. It's all up to you what you want to do.
