Correct! :D (and you're welcome!)

Hi there,

We were refused on the basis of not genuine in August 2012.

Red Flags
1) Both were 19 at the time of marriage- married Dec 17 2011
2) husband had applied 2 times for Canadian Student visa and was rejected- applied to United Kingdom with same documents and was granted Visa in 15 days
3) Husband applied to Ontario for student Visa- I live in Manitoba
4) Parents from both sides were not present at wedding- my sisters wedding was in their hometown, and my parents wanted to do my wedding in our hometown in Canada- they have lived here nearly 30 years.
5) Court Marriage in Scotland United kingdom- husband studies in London United Kingdom
6) My elder sister is married to my husbands elders brother for 4 years and they have 2 year old son together
7) Visa officer said i am not financially stable to support my husband- yet I bought my own house, work for Provincial government, have my own vehicle, and am finishing up my degree in Nursing.

Im Canadian Born citizen and my husband is Indian. First sponsorship for both of us. My husband has no family in Canada besides his brother.

I think we were very naive in the sponsorship process. I actually didn't consider these 'red flags' as being a Canadian i thought i could get married however and wherever i wanted.

Now i have kept log of everything...I have sent multiple emails to Jason Kennedy- discussing my case, and also the stereotypical approach visa officers are using..i have gotten my MP involved.

Hi Ankit,

I am also from Manitoba ;D I am about to start this Appeal process also..... Has the MP been helpful? Did you see Mr. Lameroux?? I have hired a consultant to help me with the appeal... maybe you and I can swap experiences?

I'm happy that I'm giving you hope, because it's our hopes & dreams that keeps us going thru this long drawn-out process. I had a lot going against me, and although I always had plenty of hope, part of me thought we'd never win. Even some of my family members and closest friends and co-workers, thought my marriage was a sham, but all this negativity only made me want to win more! My husband and I did a lot of praying and we both worked really hard to win, because we weren't going to give up without a fight. For me, it became more of a matter of principle than where we were going to live, because I always knew that I could live in Tunisia with my husband. He had a good job, a house and after 7 trips there, I felt that I could live quite comfortably there, but, not as comfortable as I'd be here, of course. In the end, all our hard work paid off, and now all the doubters, are believers! ;D

Im so happy for you both ...

you know it amazes me how our own prime minster Pierre Trudeau married a woman 30 yrs younger i know it didnt last but they did have 3 sons .so why are we as canadian women frowned upon when we marry younger men
