Anyone who's dealing with the Philippine CIC... Could you give some insight and timetable for your ADR or IAD hearing thru to visa. Given the typhoon we're trying to figure out timing.

Hello everyone!

I am fairly new here (even though I have been reading pretty much all the pages of this forum) and would love to get some feedback.

Here is a bit of my timeline and my questions. (Sorry this is long)

Married: December 28/11
Filed sponsorship: March 2013
Interview/Decision Made - November 21/13
Received Denial notification - December 20th/13
Reason for Denial - Non genuine
Visa Office: Havana, Cuba
Appeal Filed: January 2014
City - Vancouver, BC.
Blue Book Rec'd: May 2014.

My husband was denied based on 3 reasons. The first is that they think we married too soon after meeting (we met in July 2010, engaged March 2011, married December 28th 2011 - which to me does not seem like a short time. After this we did not file our sponsorship for 2 years), that we do not share a common language (I am Chilean/Canadian and my husband is Cuban. We both speak Spanish.. and he studied English for 3 years..), and that my husband was not employed (he was asked to leave his job as he was a professor. They felt that he could not teach in a socialist setting being married to someone of a country that does not agree in that ruling).

I'm just curious to what is the next steps after the Blue Book has been received. How long until I know what will come next (or an estimate)? If an ADR or full hearing is asked, is it possible to win without a lawyer? Of course I have considered/wanted to hire a lawyer... However being the sole income does put a strain on my pocket book.

If I could get some feedback, opinions, and what to look forward to, I would be so greatly appreciative.

So sorry to hear about your experience. This is so crazy they can say you dont have a common language? The time frame is not too short...really i think government of Canada needs to pick the Visa officers better. It is us who are paying their wages..with all the immigration fees and taxes. How can they have so much power to mess with peoples lives? I dont know how long it takes ...i think it depends on the area you live in. I hear that some consultants are not as expensive...maybe ask people here who live in your area and who won their appeals to see if anybody had a reasonable consultant. I wish you good luck with everything.
