aakash28,

Getting a new passport means the old will be null and void. it will have no effectivity. I'd still go physically to CHC Dhaka to ask them.
you must use the old passport to enter Canada. i wonder what is so urgency to enter UK before Canada. as per the law of your country, No one can possess two valid passports and its a criminal offense to do that.

Dear jnathan,

I am carrying 3 PP together when travelling abroad and without any problem (Germany, UK, Singapore, Brazil, Malaysia). I just returned from Germany 3 days back . So I dont know how could u be so sure it is criminal offence. Just stop talking nonsence......

I travelled to Thailand with old n MR PP as the old one had valid multiple entry visa..there was no issue at the passport office..it's a very common practice there n they will stamp the old passport with ref to new PP no. so ultimately both the passport indicates one single identity and u can't travel with the old passport solely where it has ref of new PP issue..u have to carry both the passports while travelling..
Mr. Jnathan have no such idea as he never get that priviledge to travel many countries with his passport i guess.

When two passports are attached together as one, they cant be called two valid passports.
They are one , hence they both are valid as one. Valid visas on Referenced passports are valid as well.
This discussion didnt go that deep when initially initiated. if it had, my very same statements would come out as just discussed by me. Old passport which has a tie with the new one cannot be used to stamp visas. in that sense its invalid, yet the Visas are valid until they expire. That is the general rule for all the countries. this could be different for your country.

Low-skill immigrants will be given language tests, says minister

As of July 1 this year, the Provincial Nominee program will set minimum standard

Thousands of newcomers destined for low-skilled jobs in far-flung parts of the country will now be subject to mandatory language testing, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced Wednesday in Saskatoon.

Starting July 1, Kenney said Provincial Nominee Program applicants in semi-skilled and low-skilled professions will be tested and required to meet a minimum standard when it comes to listening, speaking, reading and writing in at least one of Canada's official languages - English or French.

"As a result, immigrants coming to Canada under PNPs will arrive with much better language skills and will be selected for the impact they can have on Canada's economy," Kenney said.

"We have supported enormous growth in the number of provincial nominees in recent years because it makes sense for the provinces and territories to have the flexibility to meet regional needs."

The new language requirements will impact tradespeople, those in manufacturing, sales and services, as well as certain clerical and assistant categories. Applicants must provide valid test scores from a designated testing agency in order to comply with the new rules.

Temporary foreign workers who arrive before July 1 and transition to the provincial nominee program within a year, have a one-time exemption.

More than 38,000 workers and their families came to Canada last year through the program, which gives the provinces and territories a greater say in immigration, in a bid to fill gaps in their local labour markets.

It's also helped spread out the immigrant population as more and more people have been choosing to settle outside traditionally popular provinces.

This is not true. A person can possess 2 valid passports ( from two separate countries). Say, a Bangladeshi national gets PR and left for Canada. After becoming Canadian citizen, he/she can apply for Canadian passport. At that moment, that person needs to inform Bangladeshi Embassy about this update and a "no visa requirement" seal is required.

Dear Friends.

Recently I have got my PP stamped with PR visa and its due to expire on July 31st. My PP is still valid till 2015. But I have ran out of pages for new visas. I recently applied for UK visit visa and PP was returned since I am out of pages. Now I must get a new PP before landing at Canada. I need to travel Uk before I go to Canada.

My COPR also has mention of my current PP. My question is that, if I have the current PP with me along with my new MRP while entering canada - will that be an issue?

Looks like I must get a new PP anyway. But assurance from your end would give some releif.

Thanks,

Aakash

Dear Akash,
you need to travel your both passport because old passport have valid visa but not more page and when you get new passport from that date your old passport validity date is transfer newly to your new passport also change your pp number so you need to travel both but your valid pp is new one(old one need only for show your visa to immigration officer)

I think its better after gating your new passport you inform with a letter to cic. Don't worry about this issue because when you get new passport here is clearly put your old passport number so all are understand.
thanks.

Dear Friends
I need some advice. Currently I am waiting for PPR. Medical has done. In the mean time I changed my passport to MRP. Should I inform that to VO or I will be waiting for PPR and then will provide them a cover letter with explanation. In that case CORP form will mention my old pp number. Would it be a problem? Please enlighten me with your experiences.

Arif

Arif bhai, i sent my copy of mrp, page of old pp that has ref to new pp no. n cover letter after completing medical. Better to send them an early notification.

arif2095,

you don't need to send any cover letter unless the new Passport was taken for unusual reason.
Don'tr make things complicated. They know when people send two passports. They are not dumb.

Thanks Samedhaka.

I have another issue. I got PPR, medical and RPRF at the same time. However, I did not able to send our pp because my wife did not able to complete her XRay because of her pregnancy. Later we send all docs of our new born baby and VO requested my wife and baby's medical. We have already sent all required. Now should I wait for VO's further instruction or send our passports that were requested earlier. When VO sent my new born baby's medical request they also included the receipts of all RPRF fee which they only do when finalize everything. Should I send them an enquiry at this time?
