I have a technical background with bachelor's (uWindsor) and master's (uWaterloo) in Electrical Engineering.

- If you're already in Canada and didn't have much success in finding a decent job here; you should look into higher studies.
- If you haven't come here yet, you can do both. Get admission to a good school for MBA or similar (it takes time as for some reputed schools, you need to apply a year before). Meanwhile you can search for jobs.

I would ask everyone here to read my post re: Co-op Program. Although it was prepared from technical perspective, it will help you understand some important aspects of Canadian job market. There are some sample resume links as well (all my own).
Thanks. +1

Looks like Co-Op is not my thing. Very limited scope for the post-grads.

I'm planning to land sometime this December. Will it be justified if I start applying for Jobs now. You its better to be in Canada to start applying for jobs.

What will be good source to find Diplomals/Short courses for Business Grads trying to transfer their skills towards IT.

Yes, I agree that co-op is mostly a thing for undergrads; but it's available to some post-grad level programs as well. So, you should always consider this in choosing your program/school.

It won't be much fruitful if you start applying for jobs from BD. But you should definitely prepare yourself. Canadian format for resume, cover letter, portfolio will be different from BD. Let me brief you how my school (career centre) prepared me. From 1st year of my undergrad, I had to attend classes/workshops weekly for this, submit resume n all for grading n suggestions, face mock interviews etc. just to be fit for co-op jobs. So, you will be competing with these kind of people+fluent English speakers+Canadian degree+Canadian experience.

Since I'm not from business background, I can't narrow down few programs for your skill set and interest. But for diplomas, you will have to go to college and preferably take post-grad level programs. There is a nice tool to find programs from all colleges of Ontario: http://www.ontariocolleges.ca/FindProgram. Try it, if you need help, let me know.

Hi,
Those who can't link their application in mycic can try this one: (found this helpful info from a member of this group Ayokunlex01)

Use application number and UCI number option, when you get the option for number of applicant, fill up 1 there even if you are 4. Now all other information like place of birth, country put the same info as per your passport. Hopefully you will able to link your application.

Thanks.

Dear Rossei, thanks for the insightful tips & detailed posts.

What do u think about the bridging programs ? are they any good?

A few universities offer bridging programs for immigrants with post-grad qualifications.

Yes, they are good. Lot of local Canadians do it as well. For example, one does a 2-year diploma in Nursing from a college first, s/he starts working and in few months/years s/he feels like doing a bachelors (honours) in Nursing. S/he gets into a nursing bridging program which will take 3 years instead of 4 in a university.

Now, for a regulated profession, getting into bridging program may be very hard. For example: immigrant doctors. But if you can manage to do so, life will be easy after graduation. :)

If you had given me specific example, I could answer better I suppose.

Is there anyone who traveled by Turkish airlines to Toronto?

I would like to know how much do I have to pay to Carry an extra luggage (23 kg) from Dhaka to Toronto by Turkish airline? Should I pay that money in advance or during immigration checking?

Dear All,

Assalamu Alaikum.

Alhamdulillah, I've successfully applied and paid for Mon Projet Quebec intake of this August.

Need your expert suggestion on a issue you may aware. My name indicated on my educational documents is Md. Anwar Asad, where as my passport, my wife's passport and my two children passport contains my name Mohammad Anwar Asad. Also my children's birth certificate and my marriage certificate contains my name Mohammad Anwar Asad. Is this will create any problem?
If yes, what is the way forward?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Anwar Asad

During PR Landing they will go by what is in your passports and landing documents.

If name is different only in educational documents, should not be an issue. You can call CIC information service and get their opinion.

I was curious about bridging programs for "qualified internationally trained individuals". Ppl with non-Canadian post grad qualification & job experience are the targets for these course. Are they fruitful ?

For more : http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/working/OI_BRIDGE.html

I'm an MBA, working in a financial institution.
