Yes, they are good. Lot of local Canadians do it as well. For example, one does a 2-year diploma in Nursing from a college first, s/he starts working and in few months/years s/he feels like doing a bachelors (honours) in Nursing. S/he gets into a nursing bridging program which will take 3 years instead of 4 in a university.
Now, for a regulated profession, getting into bridging program may be very hard. For example: immigrant doctors. But if you can manage to do so, life will be easy after graduation.
