Hello!

I am going to be applying to sponsor my partner in the coming months outside of Canada.

My question is, does she have to arrive in Canada within 3 months of the sponsorship being accepted? I heard maybe this is the case, but can't find verified info on it.

Thank you for any help!

She would need to arrive before the expiration date on her COPR (landing papers). The COPR expires one year from the date the medical exam was completed. For outland applicants, the medical is completed anywhere from 2 months to 5 months into the application process. The amount of time to land will depend on when the medical is completed and how long the application processing takes.

Thank you very much!

So the COPR and medical exam papers are valid for one year from the completion date. She can enter anytime before the expiration of of these documents.

One year from medical completion date should be enough time. This would save a trip to Canada just to confirm the residence status!

Thank you for your help.
