Hello,

I tried searching but couldnt find much on this topic, please share if you know about this topic.
After I landed, still waiting for my PR card to arrive in mail, need to travel urgently and belong to a non-exempt country, can I travel back to Canada on my open work permit and visa which are valid? Thanks in advance.

In theory, both your work permit and visa are now void. They became so at the moment you "landed" as a PR.
However, if your visa hasn't been actually marked in your passport as "cancelled without prejudice", you could probably manage to board an aircraft with it. Your should NOT tell the airline staff that you are a PR, as they will probably refuse even an uncancelled visa.

You are supposed to get a PR Travel Document...

no, your work permit and visa are no longer valid.
you can use CoPR if you are travelling to states by car but if not, you must have your PR card or apply for travel document
