My wife is planned to travel to India after we complete our landing, but she would not have the PR Card when she returns back to Canada.. Are we allowed to return back to canada just with COPR document.

Did anyone face this situation and can help pls???

P.S - She does have a valid canada visa (work permit visa), not sure if this is valid anymore after landing

My thoughts are that she would not be allowed to enter Canada if she does not have that stamp (I think its call temp visa)....This stamp is used as the travel visa.....
One way is that you get the PR card...send the courier to her in India and she can use that PR card while coming back....

Hi Kumarv,

On basis of original completed landing paper(signed COPR), your wife can apply for a travel document in India (applying as soon as she reaches there). The travel document allows her to re-enter Canada without a PR card or an entry visa.

Hope this helps.

Thanks ABS_1382, rks0101 for your response. I too believed there must be a way that one can travel and enter canada while waiting for PR card.

Is this mentioned anywhere in CIC website, the details about getting this travel document based on signed COPR?

Hi Kumarv,

The details of Travel Document (TD) application are at the link:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp

More relevant is the Link for India application centre, as your wife would apply in India, whose link is
http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/India/

They may have slightly additional requirements, so one should use their guidelines. VFS I believe have collection and delivery systems to a number of in country cities.

The 3 centres of TD application in India are-
Delhi
Chandigarh
Bengaluru

Hope this helps!

Basically, if you fly directly from India to Canada, you will need a PR Card.
If you fly to US and enter Canada at the border, you can do it with a CoPR.

Though I did recall some people mentioning in a thread that they have attempted to re-enter Canada at the airport without a PR card and they were permitted. I think at the end of the day, it might just depend on the officer's whim/mood of the day.
