After ITA - what are the requirements to translation?

Under last year's FSW program, there were instructions on CIC's website on how to translate the documents which aren't in English. Are there any such requirements this year? I can't find any, so I would appreciate a link, if it exists. Also, those who got their AORs already, how did you translate/certify your documents?

Language translation has to be done by certified translators. With the translation and photocopied original document, an affidavit from the translator should also be attached.

CIC will only accept English or French documents. For anything else, it has to be translated.

Yes. A certified copy of the original document + Translation + Affidavit from the translator needs to be uploaded.

Note: An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the place where the affidavit is sworn, that the contents of the translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document. Translators who are certified members in good standing of one of the provincial or territorial organizations of translators and interpreters of Canada do not need to supply an affidavit.

Better to do it in Russia or Ukraine.
Local Canadian translators charge 10-15 times more then in Ukraine.
It is cheaper to send papers by post, get them translated and then to be sent back.
No point to pay huge money to a local agency.

Hmm, okay, I understand you. It still feels weird to me that I would be uploading both the scans of the original document and of the copy of that document...

How is that weird? CIC also needs to judge the authenticity of the translation. Besides, this is an immigration process to a country, why would they not want to see the original document? What if they need to see the original document later on?

What I mean is - in my case, there are 3 parts to a translated document:
1. The original document.
2. The black-and-white photocopy of the original document.
3. The translation of the original document.
It goes without saying that 1 and 3 should be uploaded, so CIC will see the original document anyway. My doubt is whether I should upload 2, too, because it's basically the same as 1, only in black-and-white.

Why would no. 2 need to be uploaded? It is No. 1 itself. Just in black and white.

I translated my Spanish police certificate from one of the ATIO certified translators. She happily translated from my scanned copy and sent me the translated copy and affidavit in both email and regular mail. If you translate it from outside Canada (and few other countries), getting an affidavit might be a problem. And since CIC specifically asks for an affidavit from translator please make sure of it before you translate.

Should we use certified copy of the original ? Because i translated my documents from certified translators in BC and she translated from scanned copies and she sent me the scanned copy attached with the translation and her stamp.also she provided me with her business card for each document.is that enough??

I did the same - had it translated from the scanned copy. But I have affidavit too. If you got the scan of original document, scan of translated document and scan of affidavit from the translator, then you are good.
