I did the same - had it translated from the scanned copy. But I have affidavit too. If you got the scan of original document, scan of translated document and scan of affidavit from the translator, then you are good.
thank you sooo much for ur response..i appreciate it .

She used scanned copies only ((not certified copies)).. she did not give me affidavit..i also fpund this on cic website

((((Translators who are certified members in good standing of one of the provincial or territorial organizations of translators and interpreters of Canada do not need to supply an affidavit))))

does that mean that she doesnot need to give an affidavit..

From what I was told by the translation agency I sent my documents to, a certified translator attaches an affidavit to the translation. Notarization of the affidavit is needed when the translation is done by a non-certified translator. I'm living in Canada so I'll have my documents translated by a certified Canadian translator. Yes the translation agency accepts scans of the original documents.

So for CIC, i can use the scanned copy of the document attached with the translation from the certified translator only?? No notarization no certified copies?? Is that right?

Thank you very much ☺

I think that your translated copy is certified 'by default' if the translator is a certified translator and provides affidavit (I'm referring to Canadian translators, I don't know what are the requirements for translations done by non-Canadian translators).

In the affidavit the translator states that the translation is a true copy of the original document received for translation. A certified translator would also mention his/her licence number at ATIO.

For example my translator put his affidavit on the back of the translation.

Yeah an affidavit is just like what katj2684 described. And if you translated all the documents from one translator, then single affidavit will work for all the translations.

Can anyone share the contact of a certified translator in Toronto? Also how much does it cost? Is the affidavit included in the services or do I need to pay extra for that?

And the cost varies. You have to ask them to know for sure. I saw a huge difference. They quoted from $20 to $ 75 for the same document. Normally, the affidavit is included in this cost. But, just ask them to make sure.

Do NOT use ATIO. They're extremely expensive, you may face something close to $100/document from them.
From personal perspective, here are a few I found the most reasonable:

The first one was the least expensive and, probably, the most professional of them all, but that's my personal opinion, though. I paid for my five docs less than $100 which is much better than what I was offered. The worst quote I got was $130 for one document %)
