We know, but they said he would have had to go to a specialist to be diagnosed with high BP and why he had high BP and that would have been super pricey.

I was born and raised Canadian though, I've never dealt with CIC before. Do I need to just use my SIN?

FYI, high BP wouldn't have prevented his medical from being accepted. For a spousal sponsorship, the only thing that can lead to medical inadmissibility is something like active TB, or something that could be deemed a risk to the public.

You, as a Canadian, should have a UCI from a previous dealing with CIC (maybe from when you had a work permit, or something). UCI numbers are assigned once and re-used for life by the individual (like a SI number).

Your husband won't have his UCI number until they start working on his portion of the application.
Ponga, if she was born in Canada she never had to deal with CiC because you don't need a work permit if you are born Canadian ;)

Ashley, you do not need to give them any kind of SIN number or anything of the sort. You DON'T NEED a cover letter with your application, and even if you feel you would like to write one, you don't need to have any UCI, Client ID# or SIN included on said cover sheet.

Great! Thanks!
I just wanted to make sure, since we are hitting the final stretch every little bit counts now!
Since we've been living together 2 years now and have a dog together and stuff I can't see us having too much trouble, but I'm making double and triple sure we don't miss anything and end up having it sent back to us!

Ponga you have been so amazing, I could never thank you enough! I'll be having my 21st birthday next month and I can honestly say I feel like a little lost child going through this right now!
My husband is just TOOO calm about it all! Haha
I'm starting to feel pretty confident about it all, just glad i've had this forum as a lifesaver!

Well, I had no idea that she was born in Canada until she replied to my post, so...take that smarty pants! :D

Aw, thanks but you had good advice from a lot of people here!

I really think you dodged a bullet by changing your plans. Showing up with a U-haul, a husband AND a dog, would have been a huge mistake!

Good luck!

We were wanting to do inland since it is faster
I just wanted to let you know, as I saw you quoted Outland wait times as 18-30 months. Those are only in NY/LA that process more difficult applications.

If yours is pretty straight-forward and has no giant red flags it will stay at Ottawa. Currently apps are being processed in 6-8 months. ^______^

I read thru the thread, and I'm so happy to see you decided to do Outland, and not show up at the border w/ a Uhaul and your husband! I think this will work out much better for you. I was in a very similar boat, and we decided to do Outland. 6-8 months is not so bad:) Think about it this way - you get to enjoy some alone time before you spend the rest of your lives together <3

Yay! Thank you!
We are super excited!
Especially since we know for a fact that there won't be an issue with our application, his background is spotless, and I've been in the USA living with him for 2 solid years, plus we have wedding pictures and letters from friends and family on both sides of the border.

FINALLY good news!! haha
I'm thrilled that wait times are shorter, I didn't realize the whole thing stayed in Canada if it was issue free!
Thank you all so much!!

Yes. Move out of Mayberry.

Kidding!!

I can't imagine that a pro photographer there (there must be at least one ;)) can't conform to the requirements.

I seem to recall that the back of the photos have to be stamped with the name of the photographer (or studio) as well as the date...
or am I hallucinating now?

Nope I'm pretty sure you are right!
I just found one that is in Dallas, (3hrs away)
That actually specifically does immigration photos for Canada!
YAY!
They are closed right now.
But I'm going to call them non stop tomorrow. ;)
I found a post online where someone was completely having the same issues, and they just kept calling portrait studios over and over until they found one that could do the specific measurements. I'm just excited I found one! Haha
They also suggest for people to call the local embassy or consulate to ask them if they have studios they approve of.

One last question for everyone!

In August we are going to Canada, our application will be sent in by the first week of July, and in the application it asks for his passport.
Since we are planning to travel obviously we won't be sending the original, but do we need to send a photocopy? or do we just wait until they request his passport?

the application doe not require anyone to send an actual passport. the applications requires both applicant and sponsor to submit COPIES of their passport. Do not mail CIC your physical passport until it is physically requested by your visa office! Considering your visa office will be Ottawa, you will never have to send the physical passport, ONLY photocopies.
